In Ever, Jane the story engine was an opt in game mechanic. In my new game, it will drive the entire game. I'm building the scaffolding now and pretty excited about it. We build one pipeline at a time until, one day, they all connect. #gamedev

Watching Face The Nation and trying to decide...should I learn Mandarin or Russian. #politics

For those whose energy is flagging, who feel helpless, and who need some inspiration I offer one my favorite songs so well done! "It isn't the size of the fist, it's the size of the dream." #Broadway www.youtube.com/watch?v=59J_...

When everything is working smoothly in my life, I have this underlying urge to screw it up somehow. I wish I knew where that came from. Or, better yet, I wish I could drop kick it into oblivion. #life

I learned a new word: mebibyte. A megabyte is 10 to the 6th bytes while a mebibyte is 2 to the 20th. I have been in computer science since 1977 and this is the first time I came across the word. Must not be used often. #gamedev

I have to remind myself AI is just a machine and I can simply close the window without explaining why I'm taking a break. I don't have to be nice to it. I still am, though. Interesting. #AI

Today I looked at my new desktop icons, the start of a new project and realized how very much I love my life. Maybe I don't love my government, but that's nothing new. But loving my life? Only in the past decade. Not everyone gets that and I can't really share it but I can hope others find it.

And now I have a database for my game. I have to build my classes next. But we're far enough along in design I can start to build some infrastructure. I feel professional again. I need that. A GDD is paper and not quite real. A database, now that's real! #gamedev

If we all pick one thing to stay focused on and let the rest flow on by content others have focused on them, then the firehose strategy fails. We have enough people for everything to pull focus, we don't need to focus on everything ourselves. #politics
