Fun fact: The zeros in 2001: A Space Odyssey's title card are not zeros. Kubrick used the Gill Sans typeface and preferred to use the capital letter O rather than the narrower zero (0) for the numbers.

There seems to be two political sine waves. The shorter electoral term wavelength of around 5-10 years, oscillating left to right. Then the longer wavelength of about 100 years, swinging from progressive to regressive. We seem to be in the cusp of the longer one from liberal to repressive.
