Trump is killing baby ferrets. www.vox.com/down-to-eart...

10/10 for The Gorge. I haven’t liked most Apple TV+ movies, but this one is a definite win. if you like absurd plots, romance, and soft horror/sci-fi, you’ll like it.

I feel like I've gotten at least 10 buckets since I started pottery, and I still don't have nearly enough. I really need to streamline drying scraps and turning them into reclaim. I've also taken to saving trash. Oooo, that's a great piece of plastic!

Pottery friends, has anyone had an allergic reaction to clay? Was throwing with the same clay I’ve used for a year (112) and my hands turned bright red and I got an itchy hive-like rash on my wrists. It went away after about an hour. Not a new bag, and nothing different that I know of.

Starbucks’ new policies could not be more perfect for the hellscape we’re living in now. Nothing says heartwarming like forcing overworked and underpaid coffee shop employees to write inspirational messages on cups.

Are we watering the crops with Brawndo yet?

30 degrees outside, heater stopped working, and hvac company can’t come out until tomorrow. it’s always something. 💀🥶

In Dante's Inferno, the Ninth Circle of Hell is this giant frozen lake, and the second ring of the ice lake is filled with traitors who betrayed their country. Monday is going to be unusually cold, which is fitting. "As they denied all human ties, so are they bound only by the unyielding ice."

New class, new rib.

If you're a company that has a product you're showing off on YouTube, ffs turn off ads. I'm not going to sit and watch a 30 second+ ad to see your product.

Four hours into the snow/ice combo in Raleigh and someone has already slid off the road behind my house and hit my young trees (person and car fine, trees less so). A few feet further and it would have been my fence/garden and I have the worst anxiety now that it's going to happen again.

Anyone have a favorite (and hopefully easy to learn) software for creating stls? I had a bird die in my garden and I want to print a gravestone for his burial site. And I need to design some clay tools.

Zuck is a slimy, gelatinous worm and I hope he makes a real mess on Trump's shoe when he gets stomped. There was an opportunity here to not be a total quivering bag of offal like Musk, but instead he decided to make his platforms worse for the entire world. www.theverge.com/2025/1/7/243...

I really like Facebook groups for pottery related things and native plant discussions, but it might be time to soft retire my account.

It’s that time of year where I’m just dying to buy a cute planner because 2025 is totally the year where I’m going to streamline my life and get things done, but in reality I’ll stop using that planner by February.

Celebrating New Year’s Eve by making my cat a festive charcaterie plate.

It's frustrating that there's no opt-out for AI search results, so I'm just going to switch search engines.

First Google Search AI fail of the day: Looking up how long I have to contribute to my IRA for 2024. Google gave extra wrong info on contribution caps only applicable to Roth IRAs. I had to take the time to make sure I wasn't wrong about limits because of confusing added info I didn't need or want.

Google needs to turn off AI search results. No one needs this. I was looking up whether it’s safe to 3D print a light switch cover, and it gave me different answers every time. Bad ones. Further research suggests it is not a good idea, which Google didn’t tell me. It’s a garbage feature.

Some wins from the kiln, and one big loss. The shelf I made warped like crazy, not sure if firing upright would have helped. RIP. I do wish I’d put more lavender mist on the snake pitcher, but I still like it. Little house dish turned out better than expected, I struggle w/ clear over underglaze.

I put some Christmas presents in the kiln today, and I was not at all conservative with the glazing. In hour 1 of 24 hours of kiln anxiety, made worse by the fact that I don't have enough time left to remake.

Not sure an op-ed from a healthcare CEO that earned $23.5 million in 2023 is going to hit quite like Andrew Witty hopes, especially when it has real thoughts and prayers vibes with nothing actionable. More like achieving best profit outcomes.

This has changes that Apple made that weren't in the release notes. Several smaller things.

This is a good point from AI - you can't use Genmoji to make almost anything in Apple's new ad. It won't make a gnome, tomato spy doesn't come out as intended, nor do talking clock, walking chair, 12-sided die (banned, even) + more. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XROs... appleinsider.com/articles/24/...

I’m still using Twitter for work purposes, and so many people tech folks have quit that I didn’t see a single earthquake mention in my feed.

I’m glad I moved before California started falling in the ocean.

Bluesky needs a feature for posting only to a specific feed. Not sure tech/Apple folks want to see plant, pottery, and cat content, and vice versa.

Pottery friends: I need something to mix slip. Immersion blender or drill attachment? I bought a heavy duty looking paint mixer that’s supposed to attach to my drill, but it broke almost immediately.

Kitty for Monday:

I took a week break from social media and it’s been fantastic. I am back to work today though and back to having to keep an eye on Twitter (I’ll call it by its new name when I no longer go to Twitter dot com to get there). The deluge of Trump and cronies news is so rough on the mental health.

iOS 18.2 beta 4 seems good, we’re definitely nearing the end of beta testing. I don’t feel like image Playground and Genmoji have changed much since beta one, anyone see notable differences that aren’t just content restrictions?
