I'll share one final thing today (which is related to my previous post). If you're not already following @lizneeley.bsky.social, I recommend following now. One of the things she's doing is a weekly "Meeting the Moment" newsletter. This is from the most recent one: buttondown.com/liminalcreat...

Hi #Birdsky! I'm doing a TEDx talk next month about color perception and would like to include two bird photographs to make a point about color vision: one of a male and female cardinal and one of a male and female bluejay. Do you have photographs I could use? I'd credit you in the talk!

Does the culture you grow up in shape the way you see the world? In a new Psych Review paper, @chazfirestone.bsky.social & I tackle this centuries-old question using the Müller-Lyer illusion as a case study. Come think through one of history's mysteries with us🧵(1/13):

WE ARE HIRING! Are you interested in LLMs, metascience, and their intersection? We’re hiring a full time postdoc on a three-year contract to help us develop, evaluate, and extend RegCheck (regcheck.app), our app for automatically comparing research papers with their preregistrations.

To follow up on yesterday's post about Day 1 in my Sensation & Perception course, here's a 🧵 about how the class actually works, starting with a run-down of what we do with our scheduled class time. <1/n>

I thought the entire world, but especially @megrowler.fangraphs.com and @benlindbergh.bsky.social, would appreciate this incredible gift: @juliafstrand.bsky.social cross-stitched this gem for me, knowing that it brings me immense joy and delight every time I think about it 😍

Hi all! I'm looking for a short, accessible reading for 1st year UGs that covers: 1) contributors to the replication crisis(e.g., p-hacking, publication bias, researcher degrees of freedom) 2) initiatives to address it (e.g., preregistration, sharing data and code, registered reports). Any tips?

After a bit of a hiatus, I'm delighted to say I have new book carvings for sale at www.etsy.com/shop/StrandB...! #bookart #bookartists

I've heard rumblings about alternative methods for evaluating faculty productivity—e.g., rather than "how many papers did you publish?" things like "choose your best five papers to be evaluated." Anyone have experience with this? Or know of papers/podcasts/internet ramblings that talk about it?

I feel that the auditory research community has either not arrived here yet or is not very well connected. Please let me know who to add to this starter pack and self-nominate. 🧪 go.bsky.app/2V3D2mu
