Badenoch either knows that this will be heard as a call to violence by some quarters, or she is too stupid to realise it, either way she is unfit to be an MP, let alone leader of the opposition. This is a dangerous parroting of far right tropes. Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.

“Starmer’s increasingly strident stances, borne unmistakably of McSweeney’s influence, speak volumes. “There is a new, all-encompassing emphasis on growth; a harder line on border security; a resurgent frustration with Whitehall inertia.” www.politics.co.uk/week-in-revi...

This is every bit as good as people say it is

The gap in time in between the US administration attacking and undermining the UK, and the leader of His Majesty's supposedly opposition parroting their words wholesale, is getting shorter and shorter www.adambienkov.co.uk/p/the-collab...

The irony of the richest man in the world almost single-handedly destroying an agency designed to help the world’s poor, so that the U.S. federal budget has more room for another giant tax cut for the richest man in the world and his pals, should not be lost on anyone. [Cartoon by Mike Luckovich]

This is both hilarious and shows how Britain's libel laws are abused to silence (a free speech issue if ever there was one) Also shows how dark money works: Truss's evidence is apparently a report written by Andrew Lilico... from the Institute of Economic Affairs www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

"It’s easy to imagine that front pages, laundered through...BBC coverage, can tell you what the electorate thinks. But quite often today, the only people whose opinions they reflect are the ageing minority that still buys a newspaper – or worse still, Paul Dacre" 💯 @jonnelledge.bsky.social

Lawyers for Liz Truss have asked me to stop saying Liz Truss crashed the economy. I only said Liz Truss crashed the economy because Liz Truss did crash the economy. If she wanted me to not say Liz Truss crashed the economy, she shouldn’t have crashed the economy. Please don’t share.

I remember when ‘foreign billionaire plots to overthrow British parliamentary democracy’ was a left conspiracy theory, or at least a James Bond plot. Now it’s all in the open as if there were nothing to be ashamed about.

As night follows day, every dead sheep in the area will be blamed on them, though Eurasian lynx are specialist roe deer predators, and avoid open areas, where sheep graze. This is what happened when a lynx escaped in Wales: all dog attacks became "lynx attacks". www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

UK laws can't prevent billionaires/Musk from funding political parties. Payments can be routed through UK friends, corporate subsidiaries. Shell companies have been used. UK profits can be manufactured to make donations. Total ban is the only effective remedy. leftfootforward.org/2025/01/how-...

This should be big news. FT: “Musk has privately discussed with allies how Keir Starmer could be removed as U.K. prime minister before the next general election." As Politico writes: "Someone should introduce this dude to the guy who accused Labour of “illegally” meddling in a foreign election"

I know it's childish, but this got me

Today Conservative MPs will seek to block a piece of legislation that will actually help protect vulnerable children from abuse, in order to gain a few retweets from a far-right billionaire.

Well that lasted long. So much for Farage's 'principled' opposition to Tommy Robinson

Feels incredibly obvious given Musk's latest outbursts that all MPs should now be joining Bluesky & other platforms Reminded by @jamesomalley.co.uk's latest piece to re-up this from lawyer George Peretz in August Perhaps send it to your MP if they're not here yet open.substack.com/pub/georgepe...

Where are all the people who were vocal about national sovereignty a few years ago? Mostly lining up behind these crooked bullies who hate Britain.

Some people in recent days have alleged a ‘cover-up’ over the grooming & rape of hundreds of young girls in predominantly northern UK towns, leading to calls for a ‘national’ public inquiry into child sexual exploitation FWIW here’s a non-exhaustive list of inquiries into #CSE in last 12 yrs…

Former Business Secretary Badenoch’s dept wrote to Treasury after Dyson lobbying over tax breaks. The rich demand tax cuts and changes in law, Ministers jump. Poor get real wage/benefit cuts, NHS queues, crumbling schools ... Minister heap misery. Who governs? www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

“In London, everyone is different. But that means anyone can fit in.” Beautifully put. Thank you, Paddington. ❤️

“All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations. This would, by necessity mean no donations from private companies; PLCs, LTDs..” eastangliabylines.co.uk/politics/fig...

If only all newspapers were presented like this!

Human sacrifice is legitimised by UK govts and practiced in every town (see linked article). Thousands sacrificed to the gods of free markets, privatisations, austerity, fiscal rules, mustn't tax the rich. None of it delivers prosperity. Must change politics. leftfootforward.org/2024/10/the-...

This very British type of complacency is infuriating and reminiscent of the useless Remain campaign in 2016, which failed to learn that the lying, manipulative hard Right doesn’t play by the same ethical rules as nice folk, has no sense of honourable conduct and sees fair play as weakness.

Lambs resist calls to close slaughterhouse

Hence this kind of comment from someone who should forever remain anonymous. Yes, you might defeat populists through policy if you’re lucky but you don’t do it just by that. You have to employ all the weapons of government. That is - after all - what they would do to you.
