The Big Lebowski should have had ten Oscar nominations. Everyone is fallible.

This might be my moment.

After nearly two years, today was "peel the screen protector off your Z Fold 5 immediately!" day. Apparently once you start to see a bubble forming on the crease, you're asking for trouble, ie stuff getting stuck in there and breaking the screen. People say they have zero problems without it, so I'm

Honey and I are seeing Wet Leg AND Wolf Alice at First Avenue in Minneapolis in September:)

I was once quite confidently told by an idiot who read the first Juni-Q that no woman would ever consider such a thing and I was committing a "man writing women" sin by suggesting one might idly think about it. One can't learn everything from a book circle, folks. Sometimes you have to get laid!

New Sparks album tomorrow!!! Another Summer of Sparks, yes please. New Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, and Pulp albums also coming soon. What a time!

Books are endurance events. Mine are pretty short but each felt like a monumental effort. I take years off between them just to recuperate as well as muster the energy and ideas for the next one. But for you, dear reader, I hope they are seen as wild, whimsical, yet profound treats.

"Apes don't read philosophy!" "Yes, they do, Otto, they just don't understand it!!!"

I was quite impressed with myself this morning at how quickly and efficiently I got the coffee pot going. And then when I was about ready to fill my two thermoses and go to work, I realized I hadn't put water in. Impressive in another way, anyway...

Aronofsky going AI is sad because many of his films have been among my favorites, and even his lesser ones are admirable in their craft and ambition. I guess if you always hated him, this is fun times for you, but I'm personally not going to pretend I never liked his movies.

My babies are climbing the charts, preparing to go out with a bang... Can I get all four in the top 20% before Coverfly shuts down?

Gabino Iglesias is doing a book giveaway drawing on Goodreads. I've read his book The Devil Takes You Home and am halfway through The House of Bone and Rain, and dude is good as hell. Highly recommended for horror fans. #booksky

What I'm watching tonight.

I loved Rogue One *before* Andor. This viewing was deeply gratifying.

My stepdaughter, who I raised from 7 to 17 before she tested out of HS and moved back to CA to go to college, has earned her BA in Communication. Very proud of her.

A steal, I would humbly suggest.

"You sonovabitch, I'm in!" -something I fortunately did *not* say to MacGruber when he was building a team.

It seems to me that the ups and downs of various franchises can mostly be attributed to audiences begging for well-developed characters who they care for. I think James Gunn has the sauce and that his Superman will be wonderful.

Caught another writer using AI & they were promptly let go. I can not stress this enough: Any editor worth anything can AND WILL catch you if you're using AI to write. It's not slick, it's not subtle, & so many behavioral patterns beyond the writing are dead giveaways. Do the work or get out.

New Wolf Alice video just dropped. youtu.be/lBGcloF8LIY?...

HB-OH how the Marketing Gods of Branding look upon the plans of men and laugh, do they not?

What people don't realize is that HBO stands for Horgus Borgus Orgus, the name of the sphinx-like demon who owns Warner Bros, so they were trying to shed that association

Gee, I had no idea every single article about Ironheart on FB would have a bunch of laugh emojis from entitled white dudes.
