And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

Not content with purchasing the presidency, Elon Musk now wants to buy the Wisconsin Supreme Court as well. His PAC just pumped $1M into supporting anti-choice right-wing extremist Brad Schimel. Wisconsin — don't become Musk's latest acquisition! Vote @crawfordforwi.bsky.social.

Grants are how academic research survives, serve as the foundation to expanding understanding of all aspects of biology, and are key to how new scientists get their wings. These things are required for the survival of biotech/pharma and a major aspect of our competitiveness on the world stage.

DOGE’s expenses have risen above 40 million, with weekly costs now exceeding 10 million. We will release an updated DOGE staff list soon.

#Dendrobium Hilda Poxon (tetragonum x speciosum) This smells like artificial grape, specifically in the dimetapp format. Looks nothing like grape, though, does it? A cluster of spidery yellow flowers with white and burgundy lip. #orchids #fragrantorchids #flowers #houseplants #plants #bloomscrolling

#phalaenopsis Nianzhen Song (venosa x finleyi) a mini with unique coloring and shape, largely thanks to the finleyi parent. With any luck I’ll be able to start shipping plants in early March. #plants #orchids #bloomscrolling #houseplants

📝 Endangered Vanilla Orchids Hiding in Plain Sight 🧵 https://doi.org/n7k3 What was thought to be a single vanilla orchid species turns out to be two distinct plants, both fighting for survival. #Botany #PlantScience 🧪 #InBrief You might think vanilla is plain, but research shows it’s anything but.

Talk about flower power! Professor Zach Lippman and his team used CRISPR to uncover which fragments of non-coding DNA dictate how and when plants flower. Their work could help plant breeders produce more desirable crops that flower in the right place and right time. www.cshl.edu/crispr-manip...

Last night, Trump promised he wouldn't touch Medicaid. This morning, Trump endorsed the House Republican plan to slash Medicaid. It's smoke and mirrors: Trump and Republicans are plotting to take away health care from millions of people to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.

We have been careful to avoid using the word coup, but it’s time to call it what it is—this is a coup. Trump signed an executive order granting only the attorney general or the president the authority to interpret laws executed by the executive branch.

Inner Anarchy Where there is turmoil there can also be beauty. For #februarty #sensoryart #rough (day late) I share this textured #painting of #phalaenopsis bellina described over a surface of grit, corrugations, and suggestions of lace in bright color with nervous (aggressive?) marks. #orchids #art

I am not making this up: Republicans have introduced legislation… to increase your bank fees.
