Deepsea angler fish are famous for their fearsome appearance, but they pose no real threat to humans. Some are larger, but they are usually small, less than 10 inches long. The males are much smaller and parasitic on the females.

Our team have been checking on the #kakapo on Pukahereka/Coal Island, in south-west Fiordland, New Zealand. This is the newest kākāpō island, established last year and currently containing 13 males. Here's Kenneth, by ranger Maddy Whittaker. #conservation #parrots #birds

Taranaki Maunga, formerly Mount Taranaki/Egmont. North Island’s second highest peak at 2,518m was made a “legal person” by Parliament in 2025. It is the third geographic feature granted personhood in Aotearoa, officially recognising it as sacred to—and an ancestor of—local iwi. 📸 Sophie Turner
