It's Nice To Be Disliked (By One Of Those)

Not voting is ugly.

We’re still in a global pandemic. The threat of Covid has not passed. We’re seeing an increase in bird flu, measles, TB & more. Public health has been dying a slow & painful death for years. We are on our own. The good news? Masks work for more than just Covid! My complete guide to respirators 👇🏼

This is info that should be shared widely. @forbes is often sharing solid info about things we need to hear. www.forbes.com/sites/brucel...

In so many interviews, experts acknowledge significant changes in children’s behaviour over the last few years. The causes are likely complex; increased screen use, parent stress, skill gap and impact of COVID on brain and body. Instead, the focus is simplified…lockdown.

Air Quality is an election issue that isn’t getting enough attention. It’s another reason not to vote for Ford. He won’t protect us from Trump and he won’t protect us from current or future pandemics. Air Quality in schools is incredibly important. @ontarioschoolsafety thenarwhal.ca/ontario-scho...

This would be such good info for parents to have…

Basically we all started smoking again Things that poison small blood vessels turn out to be bad for health, who knew etc

Politics steers us away from making solid evidence-based decisions in Ontario too. It lets down kids and leads to teacher burn out. It’s a bummer to say the least. #OnEd

The combined net worth of America's twelve wealthiest people passed $2 trillion last year. 12 people. $2 trillion. Meanwhile, U.S. homelessness increased 18% in 2024. Our problem isn’t an issue of resources. Our problem is ever-expanding wealth inequality.

It’s good to catch it they said. It builds immunity they said. It’s just a cold they said. The kids are resilient they said. They were wrong. They are still wrong.

Finally got this task done. #ByeMusk

I presented to parents recently about the wonders of the teen years & how important our connection with our kids is in those years. My first slide was a long list of fun ways to connect w/ tweens & teens. Today I’d add “Wear cozy pjs & listen to an updated version of Nancy Drew with your kid!” ❤️

In the 70s, society protected kids from commercials during cartoons. Now addictive games & unimaginably graphic images are a click away and are directed right at kids. We could do so much better if we recognized that childhood is a critical period of development. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/12/o...

Toronto’s pent up rage and sarcasm might be our most powerful strategy against DoFo.

Reducing the number of times we get this virus matters.

HENS collects needed items for newcomers to Canada. The dropoff is easy. There’s a shed you can drive up to & unload. Here’s a list of what’s needed. www.donwaycovenant.com/community-ou... It’s at 240 The Donway West, Toronto. I was grateful to find out about it and wanted to share the info here. ❤️

Wow @yrfatfriend.bsky.social your movie is so moving and illuminating! The one perk of the darkness of the world is that art just seems to get better and brighter! Congratulations!

On #givingTuesday I want to mention a fave org: kiva.org You start by lending $ to a person or group of people. They repay the loan and you lend the same money again and again!

A big thank you to the parents & staff at @KCSMatters ! I felt so welcome & appreciated the warmth & engagement during my presentations about helping kids to build confidence & independence from K-12! I’m happy to continue the conversation & support this community in any way! @tamdrummond

Child Advocates: there are so many ways we can make schools safer without resorting to lock downs. Let’s clean the air & put pressure on our premier to invest in schools. The current plan is not enough to stop the cycle of constant illness! @OntarioSchoolSafety www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09...

So many posts about parenting rely on gender stereotypes. There’s so much of it, it’s sexist and rarely grounded in any kind of evidence. Terms like BoyMom, Mean Girls and Advice for parents of Girls/Boys only are often problematic. Many posts only address Moms. We can do so much better!
