I'm surprised as many as 20% prioritise US over Ukraine ... maybe because DT is a far greater international threat than anyone in Ukraine itself but how to predict 'good relations' with him?

just saw an interesting suggestion by @davidallengreen.bsky.social that future James Bond movies revert to the 50s/60s plots, times and characters. Recall how horrified I was as a teenager to read a dismal Ian Fleming novel c.f. glamour of Sean Connery!

Great to see this PhD scholarship at Durham University for care experienced applicants, named in honour of the inspirational Jahnine Davis:

A mother whose rape allegation was wrongly dismissed by a family judge is asking the High Court for permission to speak & write out about her case, in a legal first - in @lawsocgazette www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/mother-....

You can tell how ill the Pope is because they say he's reading the newspapers and in good spirits. Nobody who's reading newspapers at the moment is in good spirits.

this criminal wasn't a professor at @uniofnottingham.bsky.social !! If he's in prison, why say he lives in Swansea? inaccurate reporting by @walesonline.bsky.social - 'Barbaric' ex-professor convicted in landmark case has jail term increased www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-n...

family court judge publishes identifying details of the perpetrator of injuries to baby twins

strange mix of outrageous inaccuracies e.g. the headline and sensible report on the reality of legal aid rates www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/202...

interesting description of navigating the RCJ and Central London court

so special ed programs are getting gutted because their internal documentation used the term "transition" when talking about helping disabled kids enter the working world. they're literally striking at that word wherever they see it.

This really brings out why the name "revenge porn" is so inapt (a point well-made by Prof McGlynn elsewhere) - these are men nonconsensually making and sharing images of their current partners, there's no 'revenge' even in their own heads. The parallels to Gisèle Pelicot's case are instructive.

As Vance 'lectures' Europe on free speech, it is good to be reminded that the United States ranks 55 (!) on the World Press Freedom Index. The top 10 countries are ALL in Europe. #journalism #democracy #freepress rsf.org/en/index

The Ministry of Justice was a relative winner in the Autumn Budget. But if you take a longer view, the department has really taken a beating. It’s done worse than the average department, worse than the average ‘unprotected’ department, and it spends less now than it did 20 years ago. [thread]

this is awful!

just a "spot"

enjoyed this piece - great punchline. plus some good comments
