This Crowned Lemur is here to interrupt your doom-scrolling to say, “Hey, you good?”

Is it possible to find a rejection encouraging? Just got a rejection that made my day, but has me wondering about my word count. #amquerying

Just got back from a cocktail party on the Kenyan Navy's flagship tonight. Earlier today I led my fire team through a drill blindfolded (mimicking heavy smoke), helped the Biomed team find a lost laptop, created SLA measurements, and prepped strategy for 2025 pack up and sail. Just another day.

The language of “connecting” is one I keep seeing in my rejections. This interview shifted the way I perceived those rejections and got me studying my characters in those first pages.

As a Canadian; to the rest of the world waking up to fresh US terrifs on their countries: welcome to the club.

So I recently tried to watch The Wheel of Time on Amazon. I'm still reading through the later books, fresh off finishing off the early ones. Its a great show, but it's not the story the books tell, not even close. Which makes it hard to watch with the words of the books still ringing in my mind.

Heads up, April 1st, 2025 is when most of the major network infrastructure in North America is due for a LAN fluid change. Expect significant performance impacts throughout the day.

It's hard to get past the thought that posting to social media is little more than shouting into a room packed with people shouting, pressed shoulder to shoulder, hoping someone hears what you say over the sounds of their own voices.

Of all the adjectives my beta readers have used so far, the one calling the pacing in the second half “addictive” is my favorite.

The only test on which I ever scored an A+ was for my blood type.

The worst part about #amquerying isn't the rejections, though they aren't great. It's the waiting. The silence on Query Manager and my inbox is deafening, defeating, even. I'm grateful to all the agents who take the time to send out rejections to every query. It brings satisfying closure.

Peak nerd achieved, custom BlueSky domain activated.

You know, lovely agents of BlueSky, anyone who picks up my #amquerying High Fantasy manuscript also gets free IT support for the duration of our relationship. Heck, I’ll toss in agency-wide support. Just sayin’. Hard to put that in a query letter.

Man, after today I could use some positive motivation.

Doing my taxes as a Canadian living on a hospital ship in Africa trying to maintain factual residency while renting out my primary residence is proving very challenging.

Post a warning.

Random thought: It would be so fun to play a round or three of classic BF2 with @legaleagle.tv.

Dear #writingcommunity of BlueSky, is there any MS pitch events on this platform like there was on the old days of Twitter? #amquerying

Elbows up, Canada.

Rediscovering the Battlefield 1 soundtrack. What incredibly atmospheric music, some of it brings chills up my spine. Arguably one of the most immersive Battlefield games, or FPS, of all time.

Huh, King Charles is going to ask the US to become an associate member of the commonwealth, the first step in becoming a full member under the crown. John Oliver on @thedailyshow.com was right, Trump really is brining the US back full circle to pre 1776. Source: www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

Chose to smile more today and suddenly realized how little I’ve done it lately. Looking back, that simple change made this day feel better than I have in months. So tomorrow, I’ll smile some more. It doesn’t mean life stops throwing crap my way, but it does mean I choose to face it with a smile.
