Yates seemed like a really good opportunity.

I'll never be over Mookie. I was I over Xander before he was even gone. Not bagging on him at all but just never thought of him as a superstar or mega contract guy. Easy to say now though.

Put a decent prospect and some cash with Masa and ask AZ what's up on Montgomery. Probably silly for a number of reasons but they are looking for a lefty bat after Joc left and Masa can still swing it.

Any of the 3 contribute more to society by noon each day than Watters has in his whole existence.

Casas is the quirky, entertaining and talented type that endear themselves in Boston almost like the dirt dog. Trading his potential while his value is low isn't smart baseball. Trading a popular up-and-coming star isn't smart business.

Just pay Burnes! (I would like some Casa-less Castillo though.

Burnes or Fried (or both?)
I think getting one of them and Flaherty seems reasonable. Striking out on everyone after all the posturing would be insane.

I'm always curious how much Heyman is saying vs. how much Boras is telling Heyman what he is saying.
I'm for this as I think it would benefit the team but benefit Devers even more as he doesn't want to be "the guy." Still need to pitch though.

Dude is clearly laser-focused on health care, the border and peace in the middle east.

Trumpslation: "He said nice things about me so now he's here. Everyone should realize after my first term no serious candidates who are hopeful for a long career outside of reality TV are going to align with me."

When healthy SS is formidable. Would love to see it. Probably wouldn't cost much either if sox take all the money.

I'm surprised that people are surprised that he's only able to get clown-shoes level candidates for these important jobs. I know maga doesn't but most everyone else remembers the daily shit show round 1 was. Pretty sure Fiona Hill isn't out there encouraging colleagues saying "oh it's a dream job."

The coming Trump/Musk feud should be decent. I give it 8 months.
comment in response to

I'd say few have been exposed as much as Musk in the past 3 years but it seems like he's the one constantly doing the exposing.

This is all I see when that dude talks. Racist ass irobot.
comment in response to

I just don't think vivek and musk have the required expertise to lead this team. Should the government need anyone to lose a primary, provide tips on being off-putting or destroy a wildly successful social media platform, that's when you call these guys in.

Congratulations to Mr. Vindman and family. Should be a hell of a lawsuit.

Always important to remember she was texting Trumps chief of staff "this is bad for all of us" during 1/6. Rush used to talk about the "state-run media." Now we've got it.

with respect this is a mistake. they should attend and fulfill their duty and then plainly say afterwards why they did. then they should plainly say what their concerns are. by not attending they would be normalizing what Trump did and not using their platform to push back and resist.
comment in response to

They didn't hear clear and concise refutations of these obviously straightforward topics. They didn't see Trump held accountable so in their mind, he did nothing wrong. America was built on the premise that we were Trump-proof. We're obviously not.
comment in response to

Is it half? I don't think so. But I live in deep red southern Indiana and a lot of good people I know voted for Trump because unlike us, they are not daily consumers of politics. What they did hear was the maga drumbeat on issues like taxes, fuel and "russia, russia, russia."
comment in response to

It's real.
comment in response to

You might think so. But if you're not a daily consumer, you hear something over and over again and you see all of these allegations but no accountability you might assume that it was all baseless and political. We know that isn't the reality but politics are so toxic that it pushes people away.
comment in response to
post
I don't mean it as a compliment. For example, a friend of mine isn't a politics buff by any stretch of the imagination, but he heard maga say "the Russia hoax" and "Russia Russia Russia," enough that he thought Russia had no involvement in the 2016 election.

Say what you want about Trump (and I despise him) but what maga does well is message. They hammer the message. No matter how absurd, no matter how debunked, they say over and over that X is why Y is Z. And when challenged with reality, they move to the next X. We're dumb enough that it works.

Is it fair to say tax the megachurches rather than all of them? My small church in Southern Indiana probably would fold if there were a tax burden, we can barely pay utilities.

Dude. I'm not saying don't sign Soto. I'm saying signing Soto and not addressing pitching needs is not a good off-season.
comment in response to
post
You think that 7 lefties in a lineup doesn't matter. I disagree with that as well. Ignoring the team's biggest need is foolish and would not equate to a good offseason even IF they sign Soto, which would be an awesome thing if it were to happen.
comment in response to
post
Just how many sex offenders has maga elected?
comment in response to
post
It's not random. I disagree that signing Soto alone is a good off-season and that the lineup is very lefty heavy and pitching is very important to a successful season and hopefully post season.
comment in response to
post
It's like when our pitching was lights out until the all star break and then fizzled down the stretch, right?

A good off-season that doesn't address the teams largest needs at all.
comment in response to
post
Not changing any conversation. You said Soto alone makes it a good off-season. I disagree. It would be a massive move that would be very beneficial. I'm just saying you need big moves on the mound as well. And the defense has to improve big time.
