It's hard to overstate what a big deal this paper is: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/.... Head motion in dMRI is NOT like head motion in BOLD.

I think magnetic resonance fingerprinting is one of the biggest innovations in quantitative MRI this decade and new work led by @mayayablonski.bsky.social convinced my that this methodology will drive new research directions in developmental cognitive neuroscience doi.org/10.1162/imag...

Just attended a wonderful guest lecture from @lisapatel.bsky.social about effects of climate change on early childhood. Facts were depressing, but my main takeaway was for adults to model taking climate action collectively, and also to help our children build a personal connection to nature.

Looks like a useful resource!

On my way to San Diego to represent ROAR as a universal #dyslexia screener in San Diego country school. Whether or not schools choose, ROAR I’m excited to talk with district leaders and teachers about our vision to build deeper, systematic links between research and practice so come find me!

Thanks to all the beta testers out there, we've fixed all reported bugs and the ROAR@Home Research Portal is back up and running! roar.stanford.edu/homesignup/

Causality is a challenge in human neuroscience and intervention studies are few and far between. Though not a RCT, the longitudinal intervention design from @jamielmitchell.bsky.social offers insights into the balance between stability and plasticity in dyslexia www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

With a mission to democratize access to reading assessments we’re getting ready to launch ROAR@Home for beta testing! The UI/UX is still in its infancy but please report issues and keep your eyes out for a UI/UX designer position later this year.

Out now in Brain! Using direct cortical stimulation in 49 patients we show distinct regions of ventral temporal cortex that selectively knock out the ability to read or name. Word-selective VWFA can causally and reliably be isolated from other visual language functions. doi.org/10.1093/brai...

Sad story about the state of US education

Good point from @drewhalbailey.bsky.social

This is the paper I presented, soon out in Psychological Science: "Co-occurrence and causality among ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia" psyarxiv.com/epzgy Using the great @ntrbiopsy.bsky.social data.

Love seeing this incredible organization growing and thriving! Wishing I could go and recommending to others

The ROAR team produced an introductory video intended for teachers and school administrators but we also hope it’s informative for the research community. Please DM me with any feedback or suggestions! youtu.be/mTyRmyBRHS0?...

Kids' poor math and reading skills are posing a risk to how well Europe's future workforce can power its economy, a new report says.

Cool work!

Well this seems bad, a flood of lawsuits filed based on weak evidence, which in turn is driving how we talk about social harms… A lot of money, time, and energy is about to be wasted because moral entrepreneurs hate social media more than they actually care about evidence and protecting kids.

Thrilled to see ROAR beside some other excellent tools and excited to serve my state through our Research Practice Partnership model! edsource.org/2024/reading...
