Normal amount of guides (WIP maybe a future pillow pattern)

Hmmm it's almost march I should really make sure I can find a venue to host a little book launch for me sometime in April/May.

Normal amount of guides (WIP maybe a future pillow pattern)

Every time I get into an evo I unthinkingly hit "average" to rate its cleanliness as a reflex before looking around and seeing that I have entered the grosses evo in all of vancouver

My favorite Kurt Vonnegut quote--"you are what you pretend to be"--comes from Mother Night, a novel about an American spy who pretends to be a Nazi propagandist only to realize later in life he was just being a Nazi propagandist

THE CARTOONIST COOPERATIVE IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE... The very first DIGITAL COMICS RESIDENCY! A PAID opportunity for comics creators AROUND THE WORLD. Learn more at our journal: cartoonist.coop/journal/anno... (Art by @amandajealous.bsky.social !)

Today's thread

Some people will look at this and only see how foolish it is. But what it also is an attempt to set up a blameless, unaccountable arbiter by inserting automation into a “decision making” process. And tbh I wish more people at more news outlets would call that out.

I like conventions, I think they're a really important pillar of the comics community, but maaaaaan if they aren't also often gruelling and a bit demeaning depending on how they're set up, even with the absolute best of intentions.

one of my weirdest convention experiences was being an exhibitor at an academic comics festival where a buffet table was placed in the centre of the room the cartoonists were in & we all watched as the academics descended on it & stripped it like locusts.

ten thousand lifetimes have passed since this happened

Ursula le Guin, on the accusation that fantasy is an escape from reality

I'm gonna keep reposting examples of people not taking shit because it's important for us to see that you can, simply, reject the shit. Say "Uh... no no no, we will not be tolerating that."

Would anybody like a commission? Things are pretty desperate for me right now and my dog needs surgery we can't afford. I can draw you, your fave character, your oc, whatever. £50 / $60 per character? If you are very serious DM me. I have 10 spots open atm so be quick.

yeah it really is a marathon effort. in the same way that you can’t run the boston if you’ve never run a mile before, you can’t start at a 200+ page OGN, you have to start with like.. a few panels. maybe a couple pages. any asshole can have an idea but executing and FINISHING something is the skill.

Bumping last year's thread on the interesting link between the creation of Canada's PLR program and the 1975 Governor General Award winning book BEAR.

I keep seeing photos of everyone's cool outfits at quilt con & i'm like oh so that's where all the ppl who dress like me live huh

i am so sick of every news outlet acting like "should canada become part of the us" is a real question any of us should be entertaining. it's infuriating. we shouldn't be entertaining this at all!

the PLR rules. I keep checking the mail eagerly waiting for this year's payment.

Whoa. Pierre Poilievre started a press conference with a question from the truly trash True North, has taken a question from Rebel News...and between every question you can hear a someone yell in the background that he's not allowing all reporters to ask questions. He's ignoring them.

"surely it couldn't have been as tone deaf as I have heard..." /screenshot gets passed around "oh......"

this is why i always tell people: if you want to do comics, you have to love drawing for the sake of it, not the topic or the content. because it's going to be mostly really annoying shit like this

Book tourrrrrrr! We will have a few non-tour events sprinkled into the summer as well, but these are the official TCC events hosted by Scholastic & our tour partner bookshops. 😊

RIP to one of the greatest Canadian icons, Kevin from Just For Laughs. The festival just isn't the same without him. (pictured on the right in the pink, with the human teeth)

I can't wait to be done moving so i can get back to all my silly little crafts.

Interested in a piece of comics printing history? I’m making available a small number of Peanuts Sunday color printing molds (flongs or mats) from the 1970s glog.glennf.com/hcwm-store/p... These unique sets come with a short booklet explaining their provenance and purpose.

i tell this story every time these old photos come up but: I remember in film school one of my classmates asked what about film chemistry in the 1970s caused everything shot in NYC to look so brown and grimy and our professor was like "that wasn't the film, that's just what the air looked like here"
