Actually, on the topic of this, I'll add that I also pay for @kagi.com, which I've swifly come to realise I can't live without. The control it gives me over the search experience is just so damn good and worth every penny.

For any Kagi users who'd like to chime in on the difference 👇

I switched to Kagi as my default search engine ~a year ago exactly b/c Google search results are SO bad these days. Never thought a startup would beat Google at search: Kagi does so because Google is an ads engine, not a search engine these days. Today on Daring Fireball:

Frandroid published a piece about Kagi being an ideal alternative to Google and the many advantages of ad-free and highly customizable search: www.frandroid.com/culture-tech...

I recently recommended switching to Kagi on the #NosillaCast by @podfeet.bsky.social — this scam-avoidance reason didn't make my explicit list, but it's a direct result of removing perverse incentives by simply switching to a search provider where YOU are the actual customer!

Aaron Pressman described how "free" search engines come at an actual financial cost, sharing the journey that brought him to Kagi: www.bostonglobe.com/2025/04/01/b... A Kagi subscription can save you money in the long run by eliminating the many hidden costs associated with "free" search engines:

Kagi.com has been my absolute best subscription purchase of the past couple of years. No Google AI slop obfuscating results, it's like the original web again!

"Kagi gives me better results than Google, it lets me pay with money instead of my privacy, and it works great everywhere" www.podfeet.com/blog/2025/04...

I am sympathetic to all the people responding to this with workarounds like the udm=14 trick and such but my feeling is that we should not reward a company that has flagrantly insulted its users with our business or eyeballs; I'm using Kagi and so far it's good.

All our products, from search to the Orion browser, are built on a simple and uncompromising principle: delivering high-quality, ad-free, privacy-first services without exploiting user data. Not only is it possible - it's essential to help create the web we deserve. techcrunch.com/2025/04/24/p...

In this video, we showcase the main differences between Kagi and Google, and how we are building a premium search engine without ads, without distractions and without tracking your data - plus unique features and customizations to ensure quality results: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZLO...

Kagi guides you straight to the treasure. No detours through the swamp of sponsored results or the advertisement canyon.

🤗

It doesn't have to be this way! I've been using Kagi as my primary search engine for nearly 9 months and I have not missed Google even once. No bad AI summaries and way less SEO bait. It rules!

Awesome! Love to hear it 🥰 For anyone curious, here's more info about the family plan: help.kagi.com/kagi/plans/f...

When we say zero telemetry, we mean it. In this independent test by sizeof.cat, Kagi's Orion is listed amongst the winners for making 0 unsolicited network connections on start-up: sizeof.cat/post/web-bro...

I know i'm a broken record on this but Kagi search is everything Google used to be. And if you have any kind of job/interests wheregetting good search results matters, then the low monthly sub is 100% worth it. We're back into the era of "you get what you pay for"

Om mentions Kagi here… I also switched about 18 months ago. First search engine that I felt legitimately provided better results than Google. om.co/2025/03/29/t...

kagi translate is actually really dang useful for learning how to relatively accurately say an otherwise ambiguous to translate concept or word in portuguese being able specify context to use for a translation for words/phrases with it feels like a game changer coming from google translate
