My fear is that if I truly unmask, I will turn out to just be 20 confused gerbils that will spill out onto the floor and scatter in all directions, mostly looking for food and / or shelter.

The Lego Movie (2014), by all accounts follows the same themes, tropes, and plot devices as traditional Cosmic horror, and is relatable in context to many of the themes of Lovecraft. The Lego Movie is Cosmic Horror with a PG paint job!

My favourite characters to play are chaotic messes. I find TTRPGs the most fun when you blow up yours and the enemies plans, spring the traps, and nearly die doing the dumbest shit you can think of, but still somehow come out on top. Chaos = fun for me.
