Did they use fucking AI for this poster? The trailer is okay I guess... aesthetic is good but it feels like a retro sitcom and I'm unsure how that translates as a movie. And the script is my biggest worry.

The Apothecary Diaries S1 Director: Norihiro Naganuma Assistant Director: Akinori Fudesaka When this series ties everything together and gets rolling in delivering some satisfying pay-offs, it's really good. And I enjoyed most of it, but there are still things that overall hold it back for me,

The Apothecary Diaries 1x23 - 7/10 Lakan's backstory as expected is very good. It also recontextualizes his previous exchanges in a tragic way, such as him speaking about the possibility of devaluing a courtesan (Implying rape) is actually just a messed up way of his to cope with his grief.

The Apothecary Diaries 1x19 - 8/10 This series is kinda popping off right now. I liked how all the cases connected, and it was very climactic with the big reveal - not for us, but for Maomao - that Jinshi is of pure noble blood. Speaking of similarities between Lakan and Maomao,

The Apothecary Diaries 1x17 - 7/10 What an effective jumpscare once Maomao heard Lakan's name. In general, this episode was absurdly interesting with a lot of reveals and implications. But Lakan's goals are still not fully clear, even with that backstory in mind. Why does he want Maomao?

From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated! 1x3 - 8/10 The formula still works. It's still such a hilarious and endearing series. The rest of the cast outside of Anna and Grace is also growing on me and it's nice to see how Grace also helps Anna socialize with her peers,

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 1x1 (7/10) + 1x2 (6/10) Revisiting my childhood. But in Japanese this time, I did watch it in German back then. So far it's definitely... unique. Not only because of how eccentric it is to center a show around a card game and run with it so confidently,

The Apothecary Diaries 1x17 - 6/10 Jinshi's disguise and his voice changing like that was funny. I do wonder if his VA just did a good job altering his voice or if a second VA was involved. It's confusing to me how Jinshi once again is just a tad bit too innocent.

Dropping Momentary Lily after 3 episodes This show now totally lost me. The third episode was pretty boring all things considered, mourning a character's death I didn't care about in the first place. The presentation has a bit of merit because it has the very unique GoHands appeal

Zenshu 1x3 - 5/10 They are being a bit on the nose that it was Memmeln (the cloaked people behind the two priests also look like Memmeln and her two friends), so maybe it's a misdirect. In any case, Memmeln is very suspicious and Natsuko probably knows what's up I assume?

Momentary Lily 1x2 - 4/10 That was certainly unexpected. But to be honest, the show hasn't given me much reason so far to care about its cast. I can appreciate how the series plays with expectations already in the first episode,
