Russia made a mistake by attacking Ukraine. They can’t win because the will of the Ukrainian people is not broken. And European countries will stand by them. Extract from my press conference following today's Foreign Affairs Council ↓

We are stepping up our support to the Palestinian people. €1.6 billion until 2027 will help stabilise the West Bank and Gaza. The EU will invest in essential infrastructure while delivering humanitarian aid and support for refugees. We are a long-standing partner for the PA.

Today, we are in Luxembourg for the Foreign Affairs Council. On the agenda: Russian aggression against Ukraine, Western Balkans, situation in the Middle East and Syria, EU-Africa relations and the first EU-Palestine High Level Political Dialogue. My doorstep ↓

We share more than geography with the Western Balkans — we share responsibility. Our security and stability bind us close together. Tonight, I am meeting with Foreign Ministers from the Western Balkans and the EU to discuss security and defence cooperation.

Heartbreaking scenes from Sumy this morning as residents gathered for Palm Sunday only to be met by Russian missiles. Horrific example of Russia intensifying attacks while Ukraine has accepted an unconditional ceasefire. My thoughts are with the Ukrainian people today.

The bond between the EU and Ukraine keeps getting stronger. Today, I was happy to witness the signature of five new agreements with Ukraine. These cover important areas, from rebuilding Ukraine’s energy infrastructure to the participation in our Copernicus satellite programme.

I was pleased to witness the signing of an agreement between Albania and @eib.org to reconstruct the railway between the port of Durres and Rrogozhine. This will create new jobs, enhance trade, and improve connectivity, bringing Albania closer to its neighbours and the EU.

Great to welcome Takeshi Iwaya for the 2nd EU-Japan Strategic Dialogue today. The EU and Japan are stabilizing forces for global governance. We discussed stepping up further our security cooperation. Together, we can show leadership on global maritime security.

It is a pleasure to be in Madrid. Today marks three weeks since Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire. Since then, Russia has obstructed and evaded efforts for peace. My doorstep ahead of the G5+ Ministerial meeting on European security and Ukraine ↓

Deeply saddened by the powerful earthquake that has struck Myanmar and Thailand. This adds to the already critical situation in Myanmar, where millions of people are in need of humanitarian assistance. The EU stands with the people of Myanmar and Thailand.

Rounding up my visit of Central Asia! Thank you President Tokayev and Minister Nurtleu for the hospitality and insightful discussions. We appreciate Kazakhstan’s important role and see eye-to-eye with its respect for international law and the UN Charter.

Thank you Turkmenistan for hosting us in your beautiful capital for the Central Asia–EU Ministerial. We had an insightful exchange covering many topics in preparation of the first EU-Central Asia Summit next week We are opening a new chapter in EU cooperation with Central Asia.

Pleased to meet Nobel Peace Prize laureate Denis Mukwege. His work at Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo has given hope to countless survivors of sexual violence in conflict. We discussed the need to defend a world that puts human dignity first.

Europe must be ready for any threat, at every level of society. Today, we present a strategy to better anticipate risks and prepare response, step up civil-military cooperation and work closely with partners. Because the best way to face threats is to stay ahead of them.

Good to meet Dino Konaković again to emphasise support to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territorial integrity and constitutional order. There is no place for divisive rhetoric and actions or secessionist steps. Progress on the EU path will guarantee stability & security for all.

What we invest in defence is how we value our defence. The White Paper we present today is our proposal for working together for European Defence in the EU. And the ReArm Europe Plan brings the financing possibilities to it.

In London, I met with Foreign Secretary, David Lammy and Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey. The EU and the UK are working closely to shoulder greater responsibility for our continent’s security. We are together in ensuring Ukraine gets the support it needs to defend itself.

The EU deplores the breakdown of the ceasefire in Gaza and the deaths of civilians, including children, in Israeli airstrikes. Israel must end its military operations and resume unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid and electricity to Gaza. Hamas must release all the hostages immediately. (1/2)

The EU and its partners just pledged €5.8 billion for Syria and its neighbours. This will support Syria at a crucial time of transition and address the dire needs on the ground. This is a chance for the people of Syria to seize the moment and shape their own destiny.
