Can confirm that this is a funny, quick read for anybody who had even a passing interest in Ancient Greece.

This is sure to be a great workshop! Lindz + weird + writers HQ = chef’s kiss (with mushrooms for lips)

My stance on AI feels increasingly like “old person shakes their fist at the sky,” but I’ll say it again—if you can’t be bothered to write the email, read the long article, think through a recipe, then what the hell are we doing here?? Use your beautiful human brain and save some water!

Genuine question: I'm just over 100 pages into Stephen King's 1300-page behemoth The Stand... is it worth it? Possibly relevant: I've not read any King before (except On Writing). Picked it up because I like a dystopia with religious themes.

Why did this poignant, tragic novel have to end with a discussion of quantum mechanics? Why??? (Bonus points if you guess what it is)

I've officially sent my novel draft to beta readers for the first time. 🥹 To celebrate, here's the playlist I made to accompany the book. Both are eclectic, southern, visionary, complex, and queer. 💫 open.spotify.com/playlist/702...

Just to jump on this; if you like girl cannibals and trainwreck queers making terrible decisions, I have a sun-vampire horror novella out called SUNBATHERS. www.goodreads.com/book/show/21...

This is how you become a writer: You have to love writing but it does not mean it will be enjoyable or make you happy. Accept that you will probably not make money. If any of these ever align in any slot machine like combo, live más.

Spent much of today working on a playlist that vibes with my novel, and much like my novel, I spent most of the time going “how do I make these things fit together???” Anyway, if you like projects inspired by southern gospel music and afrofuturism (among other things), stay tuned.

PUT THOSE SUBS IN or else we’re gonna look at you with a very disappointed expression Just kidding but really submissions are still open so send them in!🖤🌱

Finally wrote and sent the email I’ve been avoiding dealing with for a couple weeks. And it was in foreign! Please applaud.

If you’re into murder mysteries, Nick is reading all the CWA Gold Dagger winners, so you don’t have to. Or more accurately, he’s highlighting the good ones, so you can skip the supremely terrible ones like this.

N walks in to me crying over the DS9 finale. Me: They had sappy montages of all their hijinks! N: Did they show the Ferengi playing baseball? Me (sobbing): Yesss!

Spent the morning sifting through my bookmarks on the other place and saving what I need. Now you know it’s getting serious.

Bluesky, Today is my 2nd day on here as an escapee from The Bad Place. I am BEGGING y’all to repost this I have $80,000 in scholarship money to give away to women and girls NATIONWIDE. I worked so hard to raise this money. Applications open THIS week. I’m scared the mass migration will impact this

We’re #writing words with #writerly #writers, #write?

Very near the end of draft 3 of my novel. (Eep!) Any tips on beta readers? Like how many? What to ask of them? Better to use pdf or google docs or…? Other advice?

“Write for your dead. Tell them a story. What are you doing with this life? Let them hold you accountable. ..Be sure you write for the living too. The ones you love, and the ones who are coming for your life." -Alexander Chee Read the whole essay. I will, with my students today. #everynightapoem

For some reason, playing Superorganism's Tiny Desk Concert on repeat is helping keep things chill on this totally normal Tuesday. Maybe it'll help you, too. 🎶 I'm happy just being a prawn 🎶 www.npr.org/2018/04/25/6...

I know I’m late to the party because I’m a scaredy cat who rarely watches horror, but I’ve just watched The Menu and hot damn, that was superb! What’s the current horror movie I should work up the nerve to see in two years time?

So many real problems to solve, but no, let’s keep setting the planet on fire for the plagiarism machine.

Send in your stuff! 🙌👏👀 Would love some help spreading the word during these last few days 👉👈🥺

It's a good sign when you revise the big, dramatic climax of your novel and make yourself feel all the feelings, right? Like damn, this thing's a tearjerker even when I know what's gonna happen.

"...the life of the mind, the ability to roam, the ability to be creative, that reading provides is the antithesis of deranged platforms, broken systems. A good novel generally conveys some kind of truth, and if it is the right kind of novel, that truth restores you."
