January reading stats. A good reading month overall #booksky πŸ’™πŸ“š

Compound Fracture is an in-depth exploration of identity, community, family, and the horrors experienced by those who don’t fit the norm. Miles, a trans young man, confronts the long-held prejudices against his family. Will he perpetuate the violence or find a way to break free? #booksky πŸ’™πŸ“š

I'm co-captaining PLY's S-Twist team for Spin Together with Jillian Moreno. Sign ups for teams start tomorrow. We'd love to have you join us! You can learn more about Spin Together, a week-long online spinning event, on their website: www.spintogether.org which is also where you can sign up!

Reading For the Wolf. One character is bone weary after fighting corruption (physical rot) alone for so long. Someone who can help comes along and he’s resistant. But the fight ultimately is easier with help. Same for us. You’re not alone. We are fighting with you and we can beat back the corruption

On Friday evening, I got to hear R.F. Kuang being interviewed as part of a literary festival. She is such a brilliant, thoughtful, and funny person. I can't wait for her new book coming later this year! #booksky πŸ’™πŸ“š #booktok

Sounds like exactly what I’m in the mood for

Finished The Teller of Small Fortunes and although it’s an excellent cozy fantasy, I’m just not into that mood right now. I think I’m entering a grimdark era. So, book suggestions? (Fantasy and science fiction) #booksky

Current read: The Teller of Small Fortunes Wanted something a little lighter after the previous read. About a third through and enjoying it so far. Also eager to try out my new teapot.

Finished The Trials of Empire by Richard Swan. A solid ending to the trilogy (though a little slow on the pacing in the first half). Recommended for those who like epic fantasy #booksky πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸͺ

Reading The Trials of Empire by Richard Swan. A fantasy book that feels so relevant to our own world.

My lap is a little full… but I’m getting in some good reading time. Current read: The Tyranny of Faith by Richard Swan

And my 2024 reading wrap up. Overall I’m happy with my reading year and read some amazing books. But letting my mood reading completely take over did lead to some disappointments and very little reading some months. This year I’m going to try more of a TBR plan again #booksky πŸ“šπŸ’™πŸͺ

December reading wrap up πŸ’™πŸ“šπŸͺ

Really enjoyed The Justice of Kings so had to start the second book right away (I got books 2 and 3 as holiday gifts) #booksky πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™

What 2025 fantasy book release are you most looking forward to? I have a lot I’m excited about but I think the one I’m most looking forward to is Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab. #booksky πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™

Goal met!

I’m enjoying listening to this holiday romance. Second chance romance for the main characters as well as a solid group of secondary characters with their own stories.

Just finished Blood over Bright Haven. Excellent book! Lots of thoughts I still need to think through. Highly recommend! #booksky πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™

Luna (dog) is not much of a snuggler so I feel extra fortunate this morning to have her decide to curl up in my lap.

The blurb for Blood over Bright Haven mentions that the main characters discover an ancient secret. I just got to the part where they’ve figured out a big part (and I think I know another part). Mind blown! Can’t wait to see how this all unravels! πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™ #booksky

3-3-3 Challenge 3 authors I haven’t read but want to try: Namina Forna Rebecca Roanhorse Megan E. O’Keefe 3 authors I want to read more from: Andrew Joseph White N.K. Jemisin Naomi Novik 3 auto-buy authors: V.E. Schwab Olivie Blake Emily Henry What are your 3-3-3?

Wow! That first chapter was intense! I’ve been looking forward to reading this one and decided it was time. I do have some plans this weekend but now I want to cancel them all so I can just immerse myself into this book.

Time to relax and read! Current read is A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett #booksky πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™

Really enjoyed this historical fantasy about a group of friends who try to break a faerie curse and then suffer the consequences of their actions. πŸͺπŸ“šπŸ’™ #booksky

I enjoyed this romance and liked the Native American representation. Also liked how it spoke to issues faced by Native Americans for opportunities in education and employment. #booksky πŸ’™πŸ“š

I’m not much of a short story reader, but I really like Olivie Blake. The stories in the first half of this book are truly wonderful. The second half is okay but doesn’t feel as strong. And I skimmed the final story. But the good stories were really good and worth diving into this collection. πŸ“šπŸ’™πŸͺ

Trying to get some work done today. My office chair doesn’t make this easy with someone who wants extra snuggles.
