There are many disturbing clips from Musk's CPAC event. But the DUMBEST thing he said is actually this. He demeans Ukrainians' sacrifice because "the line of enagagement hasn't moved". This 'genius' doesn't even get what a heroic feat it is to HOLD THE LINE against the immense Russian war machine.

I don’t like saying this but BBC News is utterly failing in its coverage of Trump. Go elsewhere to find out what is actually happening

America will have to live with the shame of what's happening here for years. www.wsj.com/world/europe...

We're going to need more hotdog suits.

Musk had to acquiesce to Brazilian demands to appoint a local lawyer to speak and accept legal documents on behalf of TwiX. I could see a move to apply his reading of the US first amendment coming. Worldwide. The law might not apply to them, but he and Trump will apply it to us. #bbcpm

This is beyond "embarrassing king" behaviour. "I direct the department to spend $200 million on an ad campaign thanking me for closing the border."

President Trump has urged President Zelensky to “get together” with President Putin to end the war in remarks that appear to contradict his previous comments that it was not “very important” to include Ukraine in talks ⬇️

Ukraine should agree to give 100% of their Vibranium mineral rights to America and hope nobody notices.

Laws don’t count if there is no one to enforce them.

‘What you in for?’ ‘Possession of a dozen Mexican medium size eggs’

It’s not just authoritarianism - it’s oligarchy, driven by a corrupt and extractive gangster capitalism harnessing grassroots ethnonationalist populism to promote authoritarianism at home and imperialism abroad.

And a reminder of what X is

It’s brilliant. Made waiting around on jury service for days on end an absolute pleasure.

It's very odd. You can argue that disruption is required to give people what they want (like a functioning NHS). But disruption itself isn't a goal that's going to enthuse anyone.

Is there any evidence for this assertion? I would think that - particularly now - change and disruption are frightening to most people; that people want systems they rely on to work, and for a stable foundation from which one can aspire and build.

Fraser Nelson has noticed that a large part of the British Right is going mad. www.thetimes.com/article/27c9...

Unbelievable, from the man who did more than anyone else to give Douglas Murray's explicit white ethnonationalism a platform and a bridge to the UK mainstream. archive.ph/LMDiX

We need facts as never before. 3 years after Putin invaded Ukraine, I spent 24 hours with combat medics on the Ukrainian frontline. Their courage, compassion, dedication & skill are astounding. Please read & please never stop standing up for Ukraine. 🇺🇦 www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

It’s coming to something when the Daily Star can put most of the rest of British media to shame.

“hydrologic insanity”. “The volume they were initially starting to release and the lack of warning to local officials – it’s hard to characterize it as anything but insane” #r4today

Oh, come on. The Conservative Party helped destroyed those places by austerity and Brexit, which together hollowed out local government, abolished RDAs and lost the country Structural Funds. But, sure, let’s pretend it’s all about immigration

Hi All, sent out this post yesterday. Trump’s transactional’ foreign policy is not hard-headed or realistic, it will probably weaken the USA. But that might be the point.

Still entirely unclear from contradictory reporting if Trump is offering to sell Zelenskyy military assistance in exchange for mining rights, or demanding mining rights as retroactive repayment for past US assistance that will now be cut off forever.

And there was I thinking that people voted for better public services, rising living standards and an end to the chaos of the Tory Party 🤔

"He parades as a strongman, but in fact he’s weak, weak, weak. In the face of America’s adversaries Donald Trump is, as he might put it, a patsy, a sucker, a pushover. He folds like a pack of cards. He’s a human doormat. A loser." www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... #r4today

So. Those mad fish at @waterstones.bsky.social have only launched some crazy deal on pre-orders. Which means that if you enjoy (i) gritty crime fiction (ii) authors with two pseudonyms and (iii) ridonculous bargains it’s now 25% cheaper to satisfy your urges. www.waterstones.com/book/the-cut...

Nelson correctly says that of course Sunak is English, but absolutely misses his part in shaping the rhetoric we have now which makes the "unthinkable" questions mainstream.

It’s called Gleichschaltung. And German history shows us where it can end. Again: we have the knowledge; we have the right words. That the US could still get to this point is such a terrible failure.

The importance of the UK and the rest of Europe developing the capacity to stand on our own two feet has never been clearer. The govt of the US being in the hands of a Russian asset and as a result threatening the free peoples of Ukraine should be a wake up call to our entire continent.
