This is Orillia, Ontario which is just under two hours (by car) north of Toronto. It's is a freezing rain disaster area. ⛸️🥶🧊

Instead of thunder we’re listening to the trees crash around us at the Fern Resort in Orillia. Be safe everybody #ONstormp

The news broke yesterday that Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe or Buffalo Woman as she’s been referred to has been positively identified as Ashlee Shingoose. This is a bittersweet revelation. I hope her family gains the closure they deserve when they’re able to properly lay her to rest. /1 #AshleeShingoose

When ‘voters’ say the ‘economy’ is important - what does that mean exactly? Can rent not be $3000 as part of that?

CBC did a Front Burner pod on Arctic Sovereignty and didn’t mention Inuit at all. Fail.

So can the Fentanyl Czar go after big pharma and the justice system that criminalizes users?

I don’t love the level of nationalism or patriotism that is dominating the messaging around the tariffs because it’s drowning out information that could simply could help keep people safe. So please take a moment to read: /1

As you know, Jordan Peterson & Conservative leader & election poll frontrunner Pierre Poilievre spoke for 1 hr 40 min about the economy, the energy sector & more But what of #Indigenous peoples? Proroguging means that Bill C-61, the proposed #FirstNations Clean #Water Act, which was almost law, died on the order paper. It will have to be reintroduced to the House - but it may not have time to squeak through before an election. #indigenous www.aptnnews.ca/national-new... #cdnpoli

A gentle reminder: you can believe that someone was not an effective leader and also believe the other options available aren’t better. Trudeau has his faults. My criticism is well documented. But the prospect of PP in the PM role is concerning especially for marginalized folx.

In the news: Ontario toughens DUI laws. Also, beer and wine is on sale at the On Route. Happy driving :)

I referenced this work on One Dish, One Mic this morning - Dr. Susan Hill Presentation at the A Day of Reflection Event marking 240 years since the Haldimand Proclamation held at Six Nations Polytechnic on October 25, 2024: youtube.com/watch?v=8DI9...

I buy books that deep down I know I’ll never read to ‘support authors’ - there’s no downside to this, right?

Remembering Jimmy Carter as one of the only US presidents who spoke honestly about Palestine. “The word ‘apartheid’ is exactly accurate…much worse than they were in South Africa by way” Goodman: Why don’t Americans know what you have seen? Carter: Americans don’t want to know

What are some of your fav desserts that include cheese as an ingredient?

This is devastating.

Body cams just document police killing us. They are no more of a deterrent than policing itself

Don't stop talking about Palestine!

Stay informed. That’s the real political power

Did the court give Wolastoqey their #LandBack in New Brunswick? Not exactly. Is this court ruling good for Wolastoqey people? Maybe. We will discuss this this morning on One Dish One Mic. More via the CBC: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Corporation of Canada perpetuates a scarcity myth - will they address this for people looking to Jordan’s principle for help by December 10th? I’ll share my thoughts this morning on One Dish One Mic: www.610cktb.com/shows/one-di...

Mass student strike happening in #Montreal at Concordia university. After a vote, students have voted to go on strike to demand divestment from the state of Israel by the university. In the 1980s, similar struggles helped push for divestment from apartheid South Africa.

Period

Calling Israel a “settler-colonialist state” is uncomfortable language, Canada says

Randy Boissonault should never have been in the Liberal Indigenous caucus and the way the companies removed from the Indigenous business registry was completed should be made public. @globalnews.ca.web.brid.gy did great investigative work- but this was the responsibility of the Liberal party

Same vibes.

Almost feels like a virtual high school reunion happening here except we were all expelled, the teachers hate us, and the school exploded.
