Can't disagree. Lee connected with and understood his audience much better than Drake did— Lee's style was more dynamic and energetic— but Lee's treatment of women was, to be generous, of its time.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! From your Secret Valentine— IMPOSSIBLE JONES! (hard to believe we did this a year ago!)

That story was in the LEGACY OF SUPERMAN one-shot, which came out while Superman was dead. One of the first stories I wrote solo— and Walter Simonson drew it! BLEW MY MIND!

The IMPOSSIBLE JONES STORE is now open (courtesy of BackerKit) for all your IMPOSSIBLE needs! T-Shirts! Enamel Pins! Posters! And all of IMP'S books, too! In fact, you can still pre-order her latest— IMPOSSIBLE TO LOVE!, with amazing alt covers by TERRY DODSON and TY TEMPLETON— which ships in April!

Yeah, I brought Kirby's Arin back as AURON, retrofitting his origin to fit the Death of Superman. We added gold to the character to make him more visually interesting. BTW: at the same time, @kurtbusiek.bsky.social created a character called Auron for Teen Agents(?), whom he graciously renamed.

These are all GREAT! @davidhahn.bsky.social makes the IMPOSSIBLE JONES book look amazing, then @ryancody.bsky.social 's colors makes it even BETTER! That last close-up of DEMOLITION— I'd LOVE a huge poster of it on my wall right now!

X-MEN EPIC COLLECTION: SECOND GENESIS. Looking to buy a copy, but can't find one for under $100(!!!) on eBay. Anyone know where I could snag one for a reasonable price? Thanks!

HMM… Seeing HERBIE worried me. But it was really to convince us Ben will work live-action (for once). I'm cautiously optimistic. The 60s setting, Johnny, Ben in trenchcoat, Marvel & FF logos: PERFECT. The outfits look too "Mego toy" to me. But I'll live. Wait and see… www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzMo...

COLORIST: NO LONGER NEEDED! A few days ago I posted, looking for a colorist for a 6-page story. I got a dozen+ responses & quickly chose one. But there are LOTS of AMAZING COLORISTS out there! I saw 6+ who could've done the job beautifully, & many more who were great, but not right for this project.

COLORIST NEEDED! 6-page EVEN STEVEN story. Minimal FX, mostly flat colors with sophisticated palette, but I'm not against a nice color hold or well-used textures. 3 pages ready now, the other 3 next week. Deadline: mid-February. Please contact me via [email protected]

LATE BIRTHDAY DINNER (at Portland's OX restaurant) with my favorite person in the world (Myrna). A great time was had by all!

As I say: my main job as the inker is to Not Screw Up what the penciler ( @davidhahn.bsky.social , in this case) drew. And don't let @ryancody.bsky.social fool you— his colors make David and me look GREAT!

Yeah, I really enjoyed mixing the FF with Weisinger's editorial style, and giving Batman a Kirby's approach. Not your typical "amalgam" type of combo, but it worked surprisingly well (especially the FF, which already had Mort's "super-family" feel).

OK. This looks GREAT! Right up my alley. Out NOW, you say?

EXTINCTION is a great name! Wish we'd thought of it back when we were actually putting THE FINAL NIGHT together. (Although, to be fair, the original name was THE DARKEST NIGHT, which powers-that-be decided was confusing, since it was the 10th anniversary of Miller's THE DARK KNIGHT…)

This country's about to be looted like nobody alive has ever seen

Fan Expo Portland is coming up! January 24-26, 2025. Guests include Helioscope members @karlkesel.bsky.social, @jeffparker.bsky.social, @valentinebarker.com, @johnburkett.bsky.social, & @stevelieberart.bsky.social. the full list of comics guests is here: fanexpohq.com/fanexpoportl... #pdxcomics

Still kinda like this one. (And, yes— I swiped that hat from Terry Lee in Caniff's TERRY AND THE PIRATES…)

OUTSIDE Best zombie movie I've seen in years. Filled with foreboding, a family of four has escaped a zombie infestation (their car tells you everything), fleeing to a remote sugarcane plantation. But this marriage has cracks in it; the zombies only increase the pressure on those cracks. Netflix.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL.

"You will be visited by three spirits…" (I could do this all day—!)

"You will be visited by three sprits…"

Them are fighting words, @comicscube.bsky.social — and on Christmas Eve, no less! As for INFLUENTIAL: Kirby is the #1 comic-BOOK artist— completely shaping their biggest genre (superhero) I'd argue Caniff is the #1 Adventure comic-strip artist. Schulz is probably the #1 humor strip artist.

"You will be visited by three sprits."

SUCH a great movie! So many twists and turns— but it all holds together and makes perfect sense!

Happy Merry, everyone!

AT LONG LAST— COOKIES! This afternoon I finally baked some Holiday cookies— VERY ably aided by our 11-year-old Eliza. These are GINGER KISS Cookies— Sugar Cookie Kisses on a gingerbread cookie. They get the Eliza "No, I'm not sneaking another cookie, why do you ask?" seal of approval.

We all know this is true. (With thanks to Jan Duursema)

Damn. Does this hit all the right notes (literally!) or what? youtu.be/uhUht6vAsMY

DID YOU KNOW: Due to the way this cover was printed, the fireworks in the background are DIFFERENT ON EVERY COVER! (At least, that's what I've been told; have not compared EVERY SINGLE COVER to be sure.)

HYPERTIME was probably our high point.

You touch my heart, @raulm77.bsky.social ! Thanks! (I still LOVE that "Watery Grave"/Suicide Squad cover!)

>Sigh.< Someday, maybe…

Matthew Clark is an old friend, great artist and has had more than his share of medical problems. And while I know it's been a hard road for him, whenever I see him he is full of life and hope and plans. If you could help out here, even a little bit, that'd be great. www.gofundme.com/f/help-matth...

Yeah, I did this, too.

HA! IMP gets around, doesn't she?

HA! Never noticed the similarity before! I was going to say you'd have to ask the penciler— but that was ME! Total coincidence. I had no idea what the cover would like when I drew that story.

TERRY DODSON: one of the best people out there. Also: fairly talented. Thanks, @terrydodsonart.bsky.social !

IMPOSSIBLE— BUT TRUE! If you missed the latest IMPOSSIBLE JONES Kickstarter— you can STILL PLEDGE! I'm leaving the door open a little while longer so you can still get your IMP comic— maybe with the Alt Covers by Terry Dodson or Ty Templeton! ImpossibleKickstarter.com
