I'm all for the elimination of the penny. That's a policy I can get behind. It's so annoying to receive coins that I don't care to keep track of. I've been disappointed that businesses don't change pricing so that after tax the amount is a round number. Ideally the price marked should be post tax.

I’m traveling and the man near me is explaining his whole life to a complete stranger. Marital status, custody terms, neighborhood, home price, largest investment, who he voted for and that he just got a passport and will travel to find his next wife (Asia, Brazil, Colombia).

I'm a bit troubled by the use of the verb "hid" - framing that intentional wrong doing by the employee. Later they describe the issue as a mistake or error. This framing is of course more sympathetic to Macy's than asking why their internal controls missed the issue - balance sheet review anyone?
