The lead is narrowing but Ontario seems poised to re-elect the only party with no platform for how to manage an economic war. Tough guy words are all show, no go + weakest plans to fix healthcare/housing chaos they "managed". Read all about it. And your real choices. www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

A piece of the CBC appeasement puzzle that’s not talked about enough: the role of media in democracies as defenders of democratic freedoms. Journalism is not valueless. In democracies is it underpinned by a commitment to democracy, itself. It’s not “biased” to vigorously defend it. It is essential.

Right off the top, this show is a load of illiterate nonsense. I’m appalled at the minimizing. “Some people” were not outraged at discussing the issue. That’s a strawman. People are upset about the normalizing language and the ignoring of basic democratic facts.

"People can do their fact-checking online after the program" is NOT HOW FACT CHECKING WORKS

"Censorship of science is never about protecting the public. It is about controlling them. When governments dictate what research can & cannot be published, they are not defending the truth. They are erasing it." Powerful words from @martinmckee.bsky.social et al 👏 academic.oup.com/eurpub/advan...

“The European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities expresses grave concern over the escalating threats to academic freedom, both in the United States and beyond” 🧪 European academies have isssued a joint statement on what is going on in US here: allea.org/wp-content/u...

“Invasion of Ukraine - good or bad for the nation? Our both sides panel takes on this topic.”

Hi folks, We won't be doing a Forecast until the weekend of March 1, due to some health issues for me. The website is also fixed now, but there's a model update in progress, so the numbers won't be stable for another day. Really sorry about that. I'm quite the bottleneck!

A study at Drexel University followed 15,527 people over two years to track COVID-19 infections and vaccination effects. Vaccination reduced symptomatic infections but had limited impact on asymptomatic cases. Protection waned after 90 days. bmjopen.bmj.com/content/15/2...

Manchester study finds COVID-19 survivors have more tiny blood vessel haemorrhages but no major capillary changes. Subtle microvascular effects may linger, but clinical impact is unclear. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Then what is the show actually planning? "Trust us" isn't good enough in the current political climate. Especially true when Ian Hanomansing says it. Covid damaged his reputation; this may ruin it.

FYI ⚠️ These people are really cool.

Doug Ford needs to cancel Ontario’s contract with Starlink now. Absolutely solidarity with Ukraine but also to avoid it being used as a bargaining chip by Musk and Trump against Canada. Right now, Premier Ford.

Some people believe Doug Ford winning another majority is a foregone conclusion but I prefer to hope this election results in a Ford gone conclusion.

I have NO idea why a journalist from CBC that has has a radio platform would want to talk about an "annexation" Just so we're all clear, annexation = invasion = invade our country. There should be NO discussion. Like I've stated before, Journalists need to do their job. Objectively.

In advance of CBC's Cross Country MixUp, here's a pre-read which helps nail the important talking points to push back.

Other than the brain, our immune system is the most complex part of the human body. For the first time, sequencing receptors of B and T cells, along w/ generative A.I., enabled diagnosis of medical conditions such as lupus. That's just for starters. erictopol.substack.com/p/the-first-...

CBC trying to explain how a "conversation" about whether Canada has a right to exist as a nation will be good because they have asked an American DJ to co-host. Like asking Ukraine to join a "conversation" with Russia about their borders. But don't worry it will be done with "care."

"Threats of annexation which break international law" isn't an issue with a legitimate middle position. You're either an extremist, and support international aggression, or you're a normal person. No other option. Frame the issue appropriately. Don't give Kevin O'Leary airspace to propagandize.

Fuck this "Canada as 51st state" framing. Why are we allowing the narrative to be set in this way? The framing should be "America starting an illegal war with Canada" because THAT IS LITERALLY WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.

Should we turn Czechoslovakia over to the Germans? We've set up a call-in on Czechoslovakian public radio which is open to Germans to talk about the pros and cons.

Hegseth says firing of top military lawyers was about making sure "they don't exist to be roadblocks to anything that happens."

“We fired all the guards at the bank so they’re not roadblocks to anything that happens.”

Asking a stupid and dangerous question on a radio show doesn’t change the fact it’s a stupid and dangerous question that has infuriated Canadians *cross country* Shame on everyone who approved this inane show. Long live Canada.

Kevin O'Leary? Kevin O'Leary will be one of the guests on CBC 's Country Checkup this afternoon. I can't bear to listen to that ?! $!!;?. CBC that's going too far.

The RCMP are still silent on this file and its a disgrace. kitchener.citynews.ca/2025/01/27/o...

womp womp Here’s the Ontario version. Covid caused a lot of death that wouldn’t have happened otherwise
