if you're 150-years old and collecting social security benefits, wow. first, props to living that long. second, awesome for getting yourself into the system that wasn't invented yet. third, are these people truly this stupid?

today, i ran in the rain. seems like such a small thing, but it about being present, aware of every movement because i needed to take off my glasses. an hour of just being in each moment. negotiating the environment. couldn't be angry, couldn't be worried, couldn't think about my first meeting.

have you contacted your congressperson today? is their voicemail full? is their staff clueless? are they pretending they have never heard of leon? if you can't get through, an office visit is just fine.

it's always nice when your government is so focused on, checks notes, eliminating dei that it removes actual information designed to help all citizens. so far, the revenge and anger administration is doing an awesome job of...doing absolutely nothing for americans.

so excited that the current president turned on the pipes/valves/tubes/whatever to get that water flowing from somewhere to somewhere else. or, rather, just turning on a system that was shut down for repair.

trying to make this week as normal as possible. people scheduling 7 am meetings clearly don't understand what i mean by normal.

not sure your favorite president knows he's raising prices for every coffee addict in the country. also not sure he cares.

so, yeah, fema. that liberal concept where the nation comes together to help those who need our government the most. so many citizens in so many states will suffer from a lack of collective contributions.

confused, as usual. didn't jim jordan spend four years targeting the weaponization of goverment against his kind? how is that the new administration has to undergo the same exercise. seems like we need a department that, well, focuses on efficiency.

restarted 2025 yesterday. not going as well as planned.

tomorrow, i face the biggest challenged of my admittedly privileged life: cleaning the refrigerator and freezer after 10 days of no electricricity. something tells me this is going to excite the cats in weird ways.

used more polite phrasing, but told an uninformed a-hole he doesn't know a damn thing about the makeup of the la county (or city) firefighting force. or a damn thing about dei. and, well, that maybe he should stop getting his news from fake sources. not being nice. sorry ma, taking out the trash.

scene: ongoing disaster known as the trump transition (more chaos!), exceptionally brave republicans in the house of representatives knelt before shadow president leon musk, voted down a negotiated bill, then whined that the democratic party abandoned them. reneging on deals has consequences.

president-elect's son dumps you? no worries, you get an ambassadorship as a consolation price.

i have absolutely no idea what the google chrome help rendering thing is, but it kills my laptop battery. pretty sure this isn't how life is supposed to work.

so the media has lectured us on our lack of respect regarding the death of a health insurance executive. we should have been more less callous. okay. i am very much against murder. but what they won't amplify is that this level of callousness what average american face every day.

so we all spent the past week shopping online, but we still have to pretend the woefully misnamed cyber monday is a real event?

pro-life thoughts. people want government to do "something" about coyotes. or, well, kill them. people use pesticides. people step on ants. people kill species without thinking about how this impacts the food chain. people eradicate plants because not pretty. shouldn't these lives matter, too?

on the surface, i am not likely to be harmed by the next administration's insane actions. his die-hard supporters will suffer the most. but! policies and actions will impact me, my family, and friends. because they area capricious, uninformed, and guided by revenge. or, this impacts all americans.

in a functioning government, competence is a virtue and a service to the country. in trump's government, competence is subservient to loyalty. and, of course, service to the country, because, well, who cares about the people?

reading demon copperhead, and, as with other kingsolver novels, i love the story, but struggle with her voice. we just don't connect, and i am committed to finishing ths book because so many people (that i respect) have raved. including someone i live with.

now recalling the good old days of character limits. i have become so self-indulgent.

thinking on a post from @todgoldberg.bsky.social , why are nazis so afraid to show their faces when they march through our cities? i can only imagine it's because they know how absolutely abhorrent they are...and they fear reactions of people they know discovering the truth about their awfulness.
