Making textured yarn for a weaving project. It’s my first time playing with that beehive technique and I’m keen to keep practising until I get it ‘right’- mine’s so sloppy ha!

This is the third blanket I’ve woven on my 60cm rigid heddle loom. I love that I can weave large panelled pieces, and also that the huge stash of gifted natural coloured yarns have been repurposed into functional items.

Just look how dirty these yarns were! Was commercially milled to leave the lanolin in, but didn’t realise how filthy it was too!

Two panels finished and weaving the last on my rigid heddle loom. Going to be a cosy blanket. #weaving #handwovenblanket #rigidheddle

Working through my next panelled blanket. This time the warp will hold a striped pattern,so I don’t have to match /seam any horizontal stripes, which can be tricky to line up if you’re weaving tension is only a little bit different on subsequent panels. #weaving #rigidheddle #handwovenblanket

I love listening to radio plays when weaving or crafting. BBC has these on YouTube for free listening youtu.be/U3Ik_g7MO10?...

My first handwoven blanket is made up of 3 panels and covers a double bed; second is a lap blanket and now the third is on the loom. I was gifted kilos of super old coarse yarns that motivated me to make large woven blankets out of panels… the trick is to match up the plaids! #rigidheddle #weaving
