As pension age climbs, life expectancy stagnates. It's a real danger that entire adulthoods are given to work with no opportunity to chill after a life grafting. Everyone deserves to finish work in good personal and financial health, to enjoy a decent retirement www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

A starter pack of groups directly providing & expanding access to free reading materials for incarcerated people. We're actively trying to find other Bluesky accounts in our community who migrated from Twitter, so let us know who we've missed! go.bsky.app/LW64Hb8

Finally getting round to this by @garethdennis.bsky.social and so far, literally so good. Not just for including a Chico Mendes quote less than 4 pages in, but for doing what many still fail to do - link climate struggle to trade unionism and class struggle, and in a way that respects its reader

An important dimension to this, aside from fact it is blatant union victimisation loophole or otherwise - when workers inform an employer "I'm not in a union" what they actually do is paint a target on their back as someone who both *splits the bargaining unit* and *doesn't have union protection*

Retail workers should not have to face abuse at work; consumers should not be so stretched by scarcity or precarity they've to risk arrest just to live. Maybe these major retailers could prevent this by... not consistently hiking prices, on the back of a crisis they have invented, just to fleece us

Rest in peace Clemenza you beautiful plush, when you were adopted into our house you were so sick I thought you only had like 3 months left in you, but you rallied like a champion and spent 3 and a half years being weird and wonderful and making everyone fall in love with you 💖

the traitors finale is the british super bowl

As we cross over to a new platform, I've made a starter pack of active trade unionists and worker organisers so we can link in with one another - message if you'd like to be added 💖 go.bsky.app/JTVKG6z

Just reminded of when my boyfriend and I saved to visit Iceland to see the northern lights, and didn't see them, while everyone back in Essex was watching them from their garden. Fair play

In 2023, the Elizabeth line saw £7.6 million in private dividends flow out of the network - an amount equivalent to a 2.4% reduction in passenger fares. These profits are leaving the capital just to subsidise shareholders. The Elizabeth line should be under direct public control.

An excellent start to 2025 for our history series with Marx Memorial Library and @wcmlibrary.bsky.social. Register now to join February's session - Anti-Fascism 19302/40s with Steve Silver: gftuet.org.uk/courses/trade-union-and-working-class-history #GFTU #GFTUET #TradeUnions #History #Workers

Nothing says "work ethic" like refusing staff a real living wage so you can duck out with the profits & go travelling 💖 (UK workers do approx 2 hrs more per week than EU avg while CEOs work just 38 hrs to amass the average annual income of a full-time worker) www.independent.co.uk/business/bre...

"Go to hell," I explained thoughtfully

We should not be on the streets chanting "Stop bombing hospitals". Healthcare workers saving lives are heroes, it's horrific that they are being targeted by the Israeli military. Free Dr Hussam Abu Safiya and all health workers now in Palestine now.

The widow of Thomas Mason, a steelworker from Stourbridge who died of asbestos-related cancer, is seeking info from former colleagues to link his illness to work history. More details here: bit.ly/3PueRlA

Unsafe and undignified treatment in corridors, cupboards and car parks is not acceptable and must end. Read our full letter to Health Secretary Wes Streeting MP and NHS England, calling for an end to treating patients in unsafe spaces ➡️ bit.ly/424Q8f7

Either Keir Starmer is the biggest mark to ever live or he's still hoping for a few 'freebies' from his corpo mates. I cannot understate how atrocious this is.

It is a grim, shameful statistic that 1 in 10 workers in Britain skip a meal each day. This is a political choice. Successive governments and employers are to blame. Not your neighbour, your fellow worker or someone born overseas. Bosses & politicians caused this www.theguardian.com/business/202...

This is a great statistic - I use the Elizabeth line a lot, particularly for work, and it is so useful. It does also leave a sour taste (and Londoners are not to blame for this, before anyone suggests it) that transport infrastructure elsewhere in rural and northern England remains so inadequate

Mick Lynch - like the @rmtunion.bsky.social more broadly - engages so many workers into the movement, and galvanises trade unionists across all sectors. What a comrade and what a legacy www.rmt.org.uk/news/retirem...

Keen to find accounts for specific workplace branches, alongside individual trade unionists - please tag them so I can add to this starter pack. The workplace, but also your branch, is where you challenge union bureaucracy - sometimes as big a fight as those taking place on the shop floor
