Help! I’m wondering if there a list for academic journals (preferably history) on here? Please share if so!

our beloved playschool closes for good today. I've spent the last several weeks issuing redundancy notices, battling with the local authority and watching in awe as our treasurer does the most depressing sums www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Why is it always the case, that you get an idea for a new bit of writing which niggles at you endlessly when you have 1000 more urgent work things to do, but when you actually take the time to do it, you’re hit with *writer’s block*

#ICYMI Catch up on what we’ve been up to so far this year!

It's been a busy month of researching, thinking, learning and writing for @claireljones.bsky.social and I, so much so that we are excited to share TWO new posts on our project website... 🖋️📖 research.kent.ac.uk/buzzers-for-...

There’s a lot of bad press about the use of AI on Microsoft Word etc, but I for one LOVE to be repeatedly reminded that I am not very good at writing

Completely agree with this, particularly Carsten’s point about the headline being misleading. It also reveals what is becoming the widely accepted (though arguably longstanding) relationship between mental ill health, policing and the law.

A very intriguing story on BBC News this morning, which has got me thinking about the shifting uses, materiality and meaning of urine over time... www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I was getting annoyed by constant emails inviting me to apply for biomedical conferences that I’m clearly not suited for, BUT the latest one is in Gran Canaria in July, which quite honestly sounds delightful

A reminder that we're currently hiring! Join us as a Public Engagement Officer and help to support Being Human Festival and a NEW Centre for Public Engagement Practice in the Arts & Humanities. (Please note there is a new link for this vacancy). Find out more: www.jobs.london.ac.uk/Job/JobDetai...

We are deeply concerned to hear about proposed cuts and programme closures at the University of Northampton and the University of Sheffield. In solidarity with our colleagues, please join us and sign and share the two petitions below requesting URGENT action. 🚨 1/3

Farewell to Kent and #theleakybody workshop. Thanks to @claireljones.bsky.social and @katemcal993.bsky.social for being excellent organisers and hosts. Such stimulating discussions about where to go next in leaky body studies :-)

Lady day of #theleakybody workshop. Univ of Kent looking pretty in the wintry frost. @claireljones.bsky.social @katemcal993.bsky.social

Room all set for the second (and last 🥺) day of #TheLeakyBody workshop. We had a great range of papers yesterday which spanned different disciples, time periods and contexts, but collectively spoke to possibilities and pitfalls of thinking with leakiness. Looking forward to our final day!

Working hard at #theleakybody workshop. Lots of great uses of the concept and interesting scholarship. Looking forward to seeing how everything comes together tomorrow, given the overlaps emerging. @claireljones.bsky.social @katemcal993.bsky.social #buzzersforbedwetters

Escaping the snow and ice today to travel down to Canterbury for #TheLeakyBody workshop, which starts tomorrow!

These are early career fellowships for those anywhere in the world "who have completed a doctoral degree in history in the 18 months prior to the submission deadline for this application, or who will have submitted their thesis for examination by 1 October 2025" 🗃️

After a pre-snow trip to Morrisons yesterday for emergency supplies, I’m now pondering one of life’s greatest questions: which are better, crumpets or pikelets?

One of my resolutions for the new year is to read more fiction. I’ve started with Butter by Asako Yuzuki, but am struggling because reading it makes me so damn HUNGRY

Oh, sounds like a fascinating project!

Ermmmmmm...this job looks ACE! 4yr contract, well-paid, hybrid working possible, fabulous project. Can't wait to see the outcomes of the project! www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DLD382/p... #skystorians #18thC #19thC 🗃️

Does anyone know of any histories of health visit/ing/ors in modern Britain? Trying to think for myself but it's the last day before annual leave and I am *tired*

#ICYMI My update on the #BuzzersforBedwetters project so far!

Over on the #BuzzersforBedwetters website, I've shared my first blog! I discuss what I've learnt so far about incontinence and the urinary body in the past, and why this history matters in the present. Have a read! 👇 research.kent.ac.uk/buzzers-for-... @claireljones.bsky.social

Walking through Kelham Island (Sheffield) after the sun has set almost leaves you convinced that you’ve accidentally stepped back in time

Just for the record, medical misogyny is also thinking that women's body stops at the uterus and that we only have reproductive organs. It's not just gynaecological conditions; it's the whole approach to women's healthcare that has to be rethought. www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

During the two days I have spent in London this week, I (an equally lost Northerner) have been asked for directions on four different occasions
