Man, really Apple? Really? It literally says “Image Creation” and “Chat GPT Extension”. Hidden under SCREEN TIME. Gah!!! These tech bros are literally trying to shove this junk down our throats. Keep resisting it. It’s so dumb.

they are openly advocating for the use of physiognomy in recruitment make it stop

The big #AI story right now: Pure scaling has failed to produce #AGI "In short, half a trillion dollars have been invested in a misguided premise; a great deal more funding seems to be headed in the same direction for now." ~ @garymarcus.bsky.social fortune.com/2025/02/...

Three online "news" stories published this week that include quotes from me that I didn't say. But I didn't do interviews and get misquoted. And they're not written by actual journalists. My best guess is there are massive amounts of AI slop getting posted as news and now I'm part of it. 😬

I will never stop thinking about this Gabe Newell quote

Funny story. In 2024, people who were convinced immigrants and foreign trade had stolen their jobs voted into office an administration that set about replacing human workers entirely with AI. Also the AI sucked. The end.

My message to the world

Interesting. Here's my alternative take: Kill it with fire.

Send this to people who claim AI isn't taking artists' jobs. There is no amount of 'adapting' that will spontaneously generate more work if companies decide they don't want to pay you anymore. www.ft.com/content/185e...

are you kidding me? how is it not clear that this constitutes a conflict of interest

Missed this somehow while writing my piece, but 350 million weekly active users of ChatGPT is total and utter bullshit, sorry. Chatgpt.com had, at best, 250m unique monthly visitors in the last few months according to Similarweb, who also said they'd never broken 150m weekly uniques. Liars!

this might be the case for *some* aspects of *some* jobs alas, if you don't have solid domain expertise knowledge to verify llm output, you're done

Newsletter: Generative AI is a marketing con perpetuated by Sam Altman and Dario Amodei through a mixture of lies and half-truths carried by a tech media that fails to ask the right questions. Outside of ChatGPT, generative AI companies barely get any traffic at all. www.wheresyoured.at/longcon/

As a reference, the $46B that Meta spent building this shit is about the same amount of money Spain used to built its WHOLE high speed rail network. All 2469 miles of it. Zuckerberg got that money selling shitty ads and destroying democracy, and gave the world this.

silicon valley is going to destroy america

The fact that even a 5yo can call out this DALL-E3 generated image as nonsense doesn't mean that it's an unusually bad example. It's just what happens when the usual AI-generated information intersects with an area where most people are experts. www.aiweirdness.com/shaped-like-...

Elon Musk’s terrifying vision for AI; short, urgent new piece at Marcus on AI. I can’t remain silent - and hope you won’t, either. open.substack.com/pub/garymarc...

“Generative AI can assist our journalists in uncovering the truth and helping more people understand the world. Machine learning already helps us report stories we couldn’t otherwise, and generative AI has the potential to bolster our journalistic capabilities even more…” editorial guidelines say.

It is ABSOLUTELY imperative that we do not allow our government to go ahead with their plans for AI. It’s very clear that they have ZERO desire to avoid the problems that rolling it out without regulation will inevitably cause. We need to push back on this.

UK copyright law consultation ‘fixed’ in favour of AI firms, peer says

I’m seeing a bunch of artists referencing AI art, either for render, pose or both. And lemme say, even though you draw it yourself, it still has the stench of AI art quite noticably. I recommend you to use proper references 👍

The "Fund promised that it would “highlight” the election fraud stories it gathered through these payments via “aggressive paid and earned media campaigns”, but it never did so, which suggests that none of the evidence generated was consequential or credible." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Our New Ass Can Shit More Than Ever

Medicare Advantage beneficiaries who are suing UnitedHealth Group over allegedly wrongful denials of care that were based on artificial intelligence scored a victory Thursday.

Even in China, AI is taking major hits in terms of copyright infringement. This is a ruling that's against a platform that provides fine tuned LoRAs of copyrighted materials, specifically Ultraman in this case, and says they are 'aiding and abetting infringement.'

Claire Silver, who says "taste is the new skill", has issued an entirely vibes based manifesto on why AI doesn't steal. Claire uses Midjourney extensively, so here's her manifesto next to what MJ can do based on 1-2 word, non-specific prompts. Is this inspiration or plagiarism?

Scoop: DOGE's Edward "Big Balls" Coristine launched a privacy-focused image-sharing site in 2021 that allowed users to create custom URLs. The URLs that redirected to Coristine's site referenced the sale of child sexual abuse material, racial slurs, and rape www.muskwatch.com/p/doge-teen-...

The Government is considering allowing AI companies to freely use your works, unless you opt-out. This is unfair and unworkable. Now is your chance to tell them what you think! Submit a response to their AI consultation using the guidance below. www.alcs.co.uk/news/your-ri...

The big takeaway here is that Reuters won this case against the AI company on grounds they violated fair use—the judge found the AI company was guilty because, in using copyrighted works to generate its output, it “meant to compete... by developing a market substitute.” Huge.

The “stop the hate” commercial featuring two celebrities who support the President who began his career by calling Mexicans rapists and whose biggest campaign donor recently gave a Hitler salute and rehired the “I was racist before it was cool” guy was….a choice.

Using AI to produce writing or art is like asking someone at the gym to lift weights for you. The effort is the point.

This is very urgent. The UK government is planning to change copyright law. If you are an artist, author, musician or work in the creative industry please read this. www.chrishaughton.com/blog/ai-and-...

I’m seeing a lot of soft takes from industry mutuals at the moment that we shouldn’t be so hard on those who use generative AI because it’s becoming harder and harder to resist. Wrong. Betraying your ethics (and your peers) because ‘everyone else is doing it’ does not suddenly make it acceptable.

The headline on this article is misleading. The AI is great at simulating or faking empathy, or teaching the reps how to do so. To my mind, that's worse than not exhibiting it at all.

BREAKING: A federal judge has determined that the Trump administration is violating his order lifting the blanket spending freeze on federal grant programs. He is orderin gthe administration to immediately unfreeze funds, including for NIH and the IRA. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The AI coup is “political offloading, shifting the messy work of winning political debates to the false authority of machine analytics. It's a way of displacing the collective decision-making at the core of representative politics.” — @eryk.bsky.social

Read it slowly and understand it. 😳🥺 Repost 👇🏾 👇🏾

An example of #EdTech that will not have generative AI is the awesome @procreate.com iPad app. #PETEandC www.theverge.com/2024/8/19/24...

LLMs don't read, they don't think, they don't feel, they are not capable of critical evaluation of the kind peer review is meant to foster. If the academic conversation is not conducted by unique human intelligences in community with each other, it ceases to matter. It is giving up.

What appear to be the most damning documents in the copyright lawsuit against Facebook allowing to re-open discovery and complaint continue to get unsealed. This is the allegation from the plaintiffs, just unsealed. /1

Funny to see Western AI executives say the hype around DeepSeek is exaggerated when their entire industry is built on exaggeration of the capabilities and possible returns of Western generative AI.

On senators falling in line because of death threats: My mom worked as a cook at a hospital where abortions are performed. People regularly tried to shoot her for "killing babies". She still went and did her job because it needed doing and she had agreed to do it. That's how it works.

OMG. You cannot make this up. February 8, 2023: “Alphabet stock plunge erases $100 billion after new AI chatbot gives wrong answer in ad” February 6, 2025: “Google edits Super Bowl ad for AI that features false information” Exponential progress, my eye.

dont think it can be overstated how bloated and user unfriendly basically every single piece of tech has gotten. want to forward an email in gmail? scroll past all the AI shit, click a submenu to find it. iPhone settings menu is like hundreds of things at this point. just crazy to do basic stuff
