My 7-year-old just cried 3 times while watching Sonic 3 because he hasn't figured out that in kids movies when a main character is gravely hurt, they never actually die.

They're acting out the Lion King to determine who gets the windowsill for birdwatching.

Today was a first: watched an earthquake happen at a coworkers house on a zoom call.

I've been buying books from Bookshop.org instead of Amazon for a few years now, but also just switched to StoryGraph from Goodreads. No regrets.

Sometimes when the world is stressful, I look over and see these two and it makes me smile.

I spent inauguration day binge-reading trashy romance novels and I feel more intelligent now than I would have if I'd watched the inauguration.

This cat cannot resist a Christmas tree. We just don't use breakable ornaments anymore. She is a tiny ball of terror.

As part of my job I approve employee travel expenses, and the amount of money spent storing a vehicle while it's not in use (especially at airports) is mind boggling. Public transit to airports is essential. #urbanism.

Now that I'm raising two kids with ADHD my favorite movie quote is: "By all means move at a glacial pace, you know how that thrills me".

My step-kiddo moved from the Seattle area to live with us in Ohio a few months ago and most of their comments on Ohio are along the lines of "WTF is this weather!?". Yes, we can have all 4 seasons in one week, that's why we layer and never actually put away the winter clothes.

My son keeps staying up too late reading and I'm torn between absolutely loving that he likes to read but also not wanting to deal with a sleep-deprived monster the next day. So far, reading is winning.

Reclaiming our communities from the car is about more than saving the planet. It’s about saving ourselves from the unsafe, unjust, unhealthy, unloveable places where we live. Sixteen books we read this year that changed how we think about the process of building cities: an #UrbanismBookClub thread.

I have 6 nieces ages 6 and under to get Christmas presents for. My shopping cart is an explosion of pink and purple and unicorns. And then also poop-shaped candy for my son.

Now if you really want to highlight the absurdity of this design, photoshop a couple of three year olds into it.

I had chocolate covered cashews for breakfast and I have no regrets. It was my reward for getting both kids on the bus on time and driving spouse to work.

I just ordered Christmas gifts for my cats so they don't feel left out while the kids open their gifts.

Sometimes step-kiddo teensplains something I have a degree in to me and it's HILARIOUS.

Inclusive transport requires an empathetic approach; recognising users' varying needs dependent on age, gender, ability and income. Planners often neglect these groups and outcomes—particularly in relation to the 'invisible' social, health and mental well-being. www.camcycle.org.uk/magazine/mag...

At some point every single day, parenting my 15-year-old step kiddo makes me want to call my parents and apologize for being an insufferable teenager. Having your younger self reflected back at you every day is humbling.

Happy St. Nick Day! My son asked "How did St. Nick know how much I love Geometry Dash!?" while opening his stocking. It is really weird that some dead Greek guy knows that much about him.

Is there a way to create a single wishlist link that combines products from lots of websites that are NOT Amazon?

I'm such a midwesterner, when I got the call that school is closed for "extreme cold" my first thought was "18 degrees isn't that cold."

Underappreciated part of the reason why road deaths are so much higher in the US than Europe

New study confirms no-duh conclusion: "Our results show that beyond a certain point, increases in car dependence yield a decrease in people’s satisfaction with life." www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

My dad's voice lives rent-free in my head every winter: I felt cold and instead of turning up the heat I put on a sweater.

Stripey cat loves to go up to fluffy cat and just bury his face in the fur and I 100% understand this impulse.
