Old haunts and good friends 😀 So nice to visit the MPI-EVA in Leipzig yesterday, have not been back since I moved to Tübingen in 2009!

As promised, here are the slides I shared with students to convince them to NOT use chatGPT and other artificial stupidity. TL;DR? AI is evil, unsustainable and stupid, and I'd much rather they use their own brains, make their own mistakes, and actually learn something. 🪄

The FT reports OpenAI suspects DeepSeek of "a potential breach of intellectual property." As a columnist for NYT, which is suing OpenAI for copyright infringement, and the author of nine books OpenAI apparently used to train its model, I couldn't possibly comment. www.ft.com/content/a0df...

First we saw Lampeter gutted & now the humanities at Cardiff. The Archaeology department was my undergrad Alma Mater & I've always been so proud of that and every opportunity they gave me. Solidarity with them & their colleagues as they face what's coming from above. Senseless, souless, vandalism 🏺
