It isn't a DIY noise show in Chicago without a sampled monologue about capitalism

California Democrats could've avoided this by powering through to their original project completion date of 2020. With large infrastructure projects, every new presidential administration before completion is a round of Russian Roulette. Needless to say, you want to play as few rounds as possible.

I've done a lot of reading on a massive guitar manufacturing company, Cort, which infamously and illegally offshored from South Korea to Indonesia. One part of this process that gets skipped over a lot is that prior to relocating, Cort brought Indonesian workers to work in the Korean factory. 🧵

I officially got the job today!

A student put together a frankenstein drum set out of the various clutter in the back of the room today, and I respect the enginuity. He even found a way to utilize the floor tom with a missing leg. For someone with no training in drumming, he's got some serious chops, too!

You know what won’t be lacking in funding? Sketchy edtech Always cash for that

Just set up a Waze account!

I want a new cozy hobby, but this feels like a really bad time to become a coffee nerd

I don't think a song releasing has immediately made me buy a concert ticket until now youtu.be/YfKlcLKDkz0?...

I just know he's going to take credit for this:

It feels strange going about my day then going home to read up on how the new fascist (and I use that word as non-euphemistically as possible) regime is taking shape. I knew this was going to be bad. I wasn't quite prepared for how quickly it's happening.

Spent this evening starting on inventory at the new high school gig. I've got my work cut out for me.

The war being waged against the scientific community began with academics within the Ivory Tower waging war against marginalized scholars and scholarship. 🤷🏿‍♀️ #academicsky #science #research #phd

My February prediction is that the Trump administration will go after the Wayback Machine and similar publicly accessible archives.

I just want to go back to the time shortly after Biden dropped out and everyone was making couch jokes. That was fun.

Anyone who thinks trans women aren't fit for combat and/or military service needs to come to a local metal show in Chicago and watch what goes down in the pit

Not sure how much I can say on this yet, but I might have stumbled my way into a full-time high school music teacher gig here in Chicago. I'm currently mapping out a semester of curriculum for five classes in the span of a few days, so I'm a bit drained at the moment.

A show I wanted to go to on my birthday sold out at $25 a ticket and is now reselling for $182-$660. I hate the music industry sometimes. A competent administration might have cracked down on predatory resale schemes at some point, btw.

Can we admit the acronym "DEI" was a branding disaster from academia? It looks way too much like "die" which invokes fear. We should've included the A (for accessibility) from the start and called it "IDEA". Academics need to stop acting like they're above society and think about optics for once.

If you’re in an institution doing any kind of DEI work, the most important thing to do right now is simply call it something else. Change it to “Community Outreach” & then keep on doing the same important work. When they outlaw Community Outreach rebrand it as “Strategic Partnerships,” rinse/repeat.

Went for a quick walk during lunch. This is Hartigan Beach in Rogers Park. Finding a nice beach in winter is like stumbling upon a little-known cozy reading nook in college.

I taught at a high school in North Lawndale last week that locked up students' phones every morning, and it was amazing. It was my first high school teaching experience where I felt like I could have an actual dialogue with the students.

Respectfully, this is how some of yall look boasting about how you're deliberately not following news right now. We can't "not my president" our way out of this one. We need a resistance that's watching them like a hawk and taking note of their missteps.

It's hard to express how much I stopped caring about DIY HRT after November 5th. There is no "proper channel" when the federal administration has explicitly stated that your mere existence is a foundational threat to America.
