This is 100% bullshit. There are no algorithms. Musk and his incel clown posse are not forensic accountants and do not know how to audit. Discovering fraud is a labor-intensive project that can never be done by looking at payments alone. This is just a thinly-veiled rationale to gut Social Security.

Individuals of conscience and good faith are doing far more than any elected Democrat to try and stop the fascists from utterly destroying the entire world.

Here are updated forms for Federal Cuts Tracker Map project, live later this week 🙏🏼 Help share and crowdsource!!! www.linkedin.com/posts/abigai...

Matt Bennett and Third Way. One bad idea after another since 1988...

Made necessary because Congress is not performing its oversight function when it comes to DOGE

The least qualified people on the planet, elected by nobody and confirmed by nobody, are making crucial decisions on your life and finances.

No democrat should vote for anything in Congress until Musk is fired and all the federal funding he zeroed out on a whim is restored. We simply cannot have a democracy when the Executive's zonked-out Vizier moves fast and breaks things he doesn't understand, which is all things, because he's stupid.

Another way of putting this: Disgusted, broken-hearted WaPo journalists can't just "jump ship." The whole fleet is sinking. There are honest jobs, but 100 good reporters for each one, even as the news desertification of America rages like wildfire. Solidarity demands we acknowledge the situation.

It’s notable that Trump cabinet secretaries and agency heads, for the most part, are acting more interested in preserving their own prerogatives against Musk’s illegal intrusions than Republican members of Congress are.

Joe the Plumber, except for actually competent people

Correct. Democratic leaders should ignore their centrist pollsters and strategists. One example is USAID. Why aren’t Dem Senators going pedal-to-the-floor to defend USAID? One reason is a shitty poll says 56% of the public opposes foreign aid. Screw that. Act. Lead.

Imagine if @aoc @sanders.senate.gov , every dem, SIMULTANEOUSLY held Town Halls where they allowed grant and contract recipients to explain to the country what it is they do and why it's important Invite all media. Including RW podcasters. @spaces Flood the zone Call it a Day Of Transparency

Our research university leaders are totally failing us in the authoritarian moment. Not even trying to loudly & publicly defend the project of academia or the institutions. Just choosing a combination of “keep our heads down” & anticipatory compliance. Shamefully inadequate to the moment.

What these nihilistic vandals are doing to dismantle science & medicine—generations of expertise & public service & life improving benefits—is cultural revolution level national self harm. No foreign foe could inflict such brutal damage & senseless suffering on US so fast & effectively & unresisted.

Only the best people.

The position I'd like to see House and Senate Democrats take is pretty simple: We refuse to cooperate with Republicans on anything until they stop breaking the law and trashing the Constitution. We want Musk out, DOGE dissolved, and the Trump administration complying with federal court orders.

This is all a good reminder that, “no help, no votes until the criminal conduct stops” is neither a big ask nor a politically perilous one.

Inflation is the number one issue on people’s minds. It was the biggest issue during the election. And already Donald Trump is breaking his promise to do something about it.

I'm hearing now that *every* technologist CFPB hired to investigate Big Tech was fired this evening. That's somewhere between 70-100 people. wired.com/story/dozens-of-cfpb-workers-terminated-in-after-hours-firing-blitz/

I remind everyone that the CFPB was created to protect consumers after the crisis of 2008-2009, where millions of Americans lost their houses due to those famous trap loans, other despicable mortgage loans and abuses by the banks

Trump wants us to think he's the first person to ever tackle government fraud, but his own White House is using a first-of-a-kind report published last year under Biden to push back on the NYT. Fun fact: The report was built on input from 12 inspectors general—at least ten of which Trump has fired.

Big banks want you powerless. The CFPB gives you a voice, and it's worked: $21B back in your pockets in fines and refunds. No wonder they want it shut down. Use your voice to tell Congress how important the CFPB is to American consumers:

What a remarkable self-own. It’s like watching a bunch of firefighters stand around looking at a burning house, annoyed because people keep calling them about it. “What do you want us to do? We didn’t set the fire! Call the arsonist.”

what elon is really doing by pathetically screeching "YOU HAVE BROKEN THE LAW" is saying "i am now The Law(TM) and i wish to weaponize the bureaucracies of federal law enforcement against my perceived enemies"

OPINION | Snap out of it America. All the warning lights are flashing, writes @djrothkopf.bsky.social.

Yes. While there are absolutely things Democrats can and must do to slow, obstruct, etc, GOP hold both House and Senate majorities, severely limiting our options. Johnson and Thune are handing over the own keys and relinquishing their own power. Even for the cynics this should be a shock.
