Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out. Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation. Say equity, which a just society should pursue. Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.

In the last few weeks I've been to a funeral and a memorial where social justice, faith and politics intertwined. Powerful reminders to be humane in our roles. Feels fitting at this moment in history. #bemoretony

It is a peculiarity of the British constitution that the viability of leaders of the opposition must be tested by their attitudes towards and behaviour in regard to sandwiches. Bagehot wrote at length about this.

Feels good to have deleted Twitter permanently..... a small step towards compassion

"Forty per cent of men under the age of twenty five in prison today were in care. For me they have already been failed by society." Prison reform campaigner, Matthew Torbitt, explains why early Government intervention could prevent imprisonment and save money. #Newsnight

“If local authorities keep commissioning care by the bed, task or hour, then you'll offer beds, tasks and hours”. Never a truer word, @neilmcrowther.bsky.social

Events and conferences about care and support must be more inclusive, ensuring that people who draw on care and support themselves are heard. Involving people meaningfully in events can help to shape policies and practices that better reflect their experiences. (1/2)

Alma's not normal...... I'm in bits 😢. 💔 and hilarious whilst shining a light on our mental health system. Northern writing at its best take a bow Sophie Willan 🙌

"SEND school reports are reportedly harder to read than Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time. From my experience, staff often claim expertise, giving hope for the children I support—until real questions reveal it’s all buzzwords with little depth. 🧵 #SEND schoolsweek.co.uk/school-send-...

This study adds to the evidence base that females with #ADHD experience later recognition & treatment of ADHD, possibly in part because of diagnostic overshadowing from other mental health conditions, such as anxiety & depression, or initial misdiagnosis acamh.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Libraries feel like something about which we could very easily be saying, “Remember that place where you could borrow books, for FREE, and return them when you were finished?” And kids would say “What?? No way!” And yet there they still are, despite everything we’ve become, existing. Remarkable.

The few times I saw him him he was warm, approachable and strong. A character and value based. Rest in peace

We need to set up the next generation with a knowledge of co-operatives so they can build the stronger, fairer, and greener economy of the future. Gareth Snell MP makes the case for co-operatives on the curriculum.

We need this GM control of "employment" support. Supportive not punitive. A clean break with DWP culture. And to run a GM Living Income pilot alongside. The sooner the better. #LivingIncome At Middleton Cooperating, we're campaigning for it with @neweconomics.bsky.social, Our Agency and Mama Health.
