Want to understand what happens when a non-union (NU) performer is cast in a union (U) project (or when a project “flips” to be U)? Helpful thread alert! To be clear: “must-join” just means that after all the steps explained below, a performer must join SAG-AFTRA *in order to do more UNION gigs*.

THIS! Folks love to forget that unions are made up of PEOPLE, and people are messyyyyyy. Luckily, perfection isn’t a union goal. Those include things like solidarity, community care, fair wages and working conditions, progress, health care, pensions/retirement plans, transparency and protection.

when people say “they’re fully ignoring judicial rulings & court orders; the courts, fed worker resistance & elections don’t matter anymore” i point them to things like this if they weren’t threatened by the established system, why are they pouring money into state elections & firing fed employees?

For those unaware, SAG-AFTRA is entering it's 7th straight month of striking interactive projects for enforceable AI rights. SAG-AFTRA contracts are protected by their legal staff--I can't afford a lawyer without the union. I am only working on projects signed to a SAG-AFTRA INTERIM AGREEMENT.
