Kettering’s last remaining cinema closed this week. It served an area with a population of 100,000. Unsurprisingly it hasn’t made the national press, unlike the proposed closure of the Prince Charles Cinema in the West End of London which has at least 6 cinemas within a square mile.

I’m at Northampton Crown Court for a case where a man is accused of glassing someone. He denies it. The court can’t deal with his case because there’s not a single barrister available to defend him. He’s only been told this at 2.45pm.
