#OMCase1 update! I suspected the patient’s symptoms were mostly caused by myofascial pain caused by multiple dental procedures completed in a short timeframe +altered occlusion. We sent her to PT with an emphasis in craniofacial exercises and dry needling to break up the persistent muscle knots

I thought it might be interesting to go over some cases I see in Oral Med, so here goes: I have a patient, in her 50’s, very healthy, who was referred to me with right sided pain and “tightness” she had implants placed but her symptoms didn’t start until after her implant crowns were placed.

I keep seeing this same dishonest trick where someone says the evidence for water fluoridation is mixed, point out that other countries fluoridate differently, and then fail to point out that the common thread is that systemic fluoride, regardless of delivery, works. 1/

As a fan of history and of medicine I will forever advocate for vaccines. They are the reason we can have 5 kids and be reasonably assured all 5 make it to adulthood! Most people against vaccines are lucky to never have lived in a world without them.

TMD Fact 1: Ear pain, ringing of the ears/tinnitus, and even dizziness/vertigo can be symptoms of TMDs! Due to how close the TMJ and supporting muscles are to the ear, the ear have referred pain as well as inflammation pressing on it from the inflamed TMJ or its surrounding capsule! #TMJ #TMD
