I wish I could go from 100% to nap in 4 seconds...

Last one for the night, I've been busy this weekend but it makes for good listening time. This book was one in a long series of books that helped me realize how little I really know. I've never understood the division in the lgbt+ community when it comes to our trans people, this answered a lot.

It took a second for me to realize this came after his other book, There,There. It was nice to have a fuller story and some of the aftermath from book 1. Tommy Orange was one of the first native authors I read when opening the bookshop. #booksky

I finished They Never Learn on Saturday and I think I'm on a roll with 5 star books. I love seeing representation of bi characters, I also love a story that allows for vicariously living out vengeance! #booksky

I loved these and cannot wait for more! Becky Chambers has such a beautiful message. Both books are super short, which is my only complaint. #booksky

Cold Eternity was released yesterday! I was so excited to get it from libby! I LOVE scifi and have been waiting for months to read this!

Finished Countdown 1960. It's crazy how the same things happen across decades of elections. We look back and think of how much has changed, but has it really?

Finished Kills Well with Others last night. I struggled to get into it, but found it enjoyable in the end. I think my tastes in books is changing again. This book is exactly what I asked for a few years ago.

Don't judge me for this one! The beginning was dark AF, but the scifi was surprisingly good. The smut was hilarious, I will be reading the next one. Also, how did I not know there are 8 books in this series?

I am behind on the book updates. So I'm posting 2 today. I finished Desperate Glory yesterday. I hated it for the first but was in love with this book by the end. Scifi, time shifts, some queer self discovery. What's not to love?

She's dreaming happy dreams.

Bia loves her new bed.

I just finished The Small and the Mighty. It took a second to get into it, she switched up stories in order to tie them together a lot. It was a great read, I cried, and laughed and love her ending thoughts. You cannot change the mind of your enemies without talking to them.

I finished thriller by Don Bruns and Sisters of the Lost Nation over the weekend. Both were good books, but Sisters touched closer to home for me when the news about Emily Pike broke. If you don't already follow MMIWG, now is a great time to start!

My shop is a safe space year round!

I had a tough time with Freedom's Dominion but it was another step towards learning our history and self education. Explains the switching of the 2 parties and Alabama history of using states rights to segregate and create prison labor.

I'm trying something new! Used blind date sub through our website! Boisebooksonthevine.com

I just had a guy upset I didn't have any Maga merch. I showed him my politics shelf. I have a used copy of rage, and hillbilly ellegy. (Next to books by Michelle Obama and Kamala) He said. "Oh, I don't read." He just thought I'd have Maga gear since I'm in idaho and "don't you wanna be safe?"

Finished the Burning Girls. I picked it up because I'm in love with Richard Armitages voice. It was a good book anyway. Had a nice combination of thriller and horror.

Just finished The Poppy War! I've been meaning to get around to it for a while. Glad I did, but now I need the next book!

I finally finished Quicksilver. It had a great start with good world building, but i felt like the spicy bits took over the second half. I really struggled to finish reading it after that.

Some of the prints painted recently.

My son wanted to take some regal pictures of Bia today.

I finished this yesterday, but I've been too mentally drained to post it. Over Ruled goes over times our government got in the way of helping people and actively destroyed lives in some cases. It makes a good case for smaller government. Funny how both sides want small government.

We are having a game night Friday the 28th! Have some fun in a safe environment! $5 door charge covers drinks and helps us stay open late!

I love when she scooby doo slides!

Weekend recap. Blighted Stars was a great lgbt+ friendly sci-fi. Democracy in Retrograde is a great starter politic book. The Black Hunger was hard to get through.

I use libby for my audio books. I have use boise public library & queer liberation library. I just started The Burning and it started with a list of recommend reading. None of those books are available at my library. That means I will be ordering them for my shop! Time to damage some ignorance!

I worked on my shelf while hanging out with Grandma. Finished Februarys reads. I just need to outline. I love the rainbow for lgbt+ books, but my partner got me rainbow metallic so I can have genre and lgbt+ together.

I had a lovely someone come to my shop on Friday, she requested recs that suport queer and bipoc authors that have joy. It's a beautiful request, and I had a few come to mind, but I would love some more for me too! #booksky show me what you've got!

It warmed my heart that this wasn't the first set my nail tech had done! It was awesome to have shoppers after the protest today! I can't thank this community enough for all the support!

Black Birds in the Sky was a short read but it first in my current hyper focus genre. This book made me sad and livid. It's infuriating to have been raised believing we live in the land of the free. Only to learn more every day that it's the land of the free only if you're a white man.

Just finished Somone You Can Build a Nest! I needed this! The almost apathetic violence of Shesheshen, the accidental humor and the baddies getting what's thiers! I rarely laugh out loud while reading, but this novel had Bia giving me side eye!

New discount code! Use code WELCOME and save 20%!

I was looking for some light-hearted horror. This isn't that. But if you want vengeful ghosts and a kickass black woman that takes no shit. It is that!

Our bookshop window! Not my usual forte, but inclusivity is so important!

Finished Pet by Awaeke Emezi. I like starting a book without knowing what to expect. Pet is amazing on so many levels. TW: child abuse mentioned but not defined.

This morning, we added some of my favorite girl power horror novels to our new website! Boisebooksonthevine.com
