So, so excited that this paper is finally out! As someone who detransitioned, gatekeeping didn’t help me. Instead it caused me many problems in the short & long-run but experiences like mine are often used to argue for more gatekeeping. I’m happy to help with a paper that challenges that narrative.

This is a difficult read. But it helped turn some some helpless thoughts about how what we’re doing isn’t working into a positive realisation: we need to stop waiting for cis people to wake up and save us and instead build our own power through pragmatic actions, community building, mutual aid etc.

We can defeat such politics by connecting across issues and refusing division. If you’re “pro-LGBT” but racist or “pro-migrant” but homo/transphobic, you only enable fascism.
