Women screenwriters over 40 - get on this! The Writers Lab has opened applications for its worldwide program, accepting feature and TV pilot scripts --> writers.coverfly.com/competitions... #scriptsky #scriptsky+ #womenwriters

The sooner we replace the phrase 'the levers of power' with 'the bafflingly intricate knobs and switches of responsibility', the sooner we can be governed by harmless hobbyists obsessed with finding the best settings instead of sociopaths who just want to know which lever starts the money machine.

Hi everyone in America. Turns out, you've lost the Cold War. Congratulations. Bit of a waste of the last 80 years, eh?

I felt a large part of my remit as a BBC Radio Comedy Producer was to bring the next generation of UK writing talent (of any age). The steady attrition of BBC Radio Drama in recent times is an ominous sign that the BBC is losing sight of its essential mission. www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

It's going to be weirdly ironic when, having completed an authoritarian power grab, the tangerine shit gibbon finally repeals the second amendment because the last thing he'll want is anyone able to create a well organised militia to fight back against a tyrant with no checks and balances.

Doe, a deer, a female deer Reh, a German word for doe Mi is my, in Mexico Fa, Italian for 'ago' So, is number back in 'Nam La, is French for the or there Ti, Yoruba's word for 'of' And that brings us back to Doe-oe-oe-oe...

From now on, when Bond goes to get his equipment from Q, all the stuff in the background will be items related to things you've recently bought.

Amazon has acquired the rights to make all new Bond movies. Look out for: On His Majesty's Streaming Service Live and Let's Buy Review to a Kill Deliver Tealights The World Is Not Enough

Grateful thank you to Theo Park Casting for letting my agent know the outcome of a tape I did for them recently. As always, it’s hugely appreciated when people take the time to get in touch, be it yes or no. #CDG

Hey, I uploaded a brand new hour long comedy special for FREE on YouTube dot com last night It’s called “Love That For Me”, it’s a show I did at the 2023 Fringe. Hope you like it 💕 youtu.be/4snqjrYWR84?...

This reads like the opening paragraph of a novel so bleakly dystopian you'd put it down after five pages

I was looking for colourised history photos and came upon this incredible work by someone called Jecinici. It's a photo of Bonnie & Clyde (the gangsters) that I've seen hundreds of times but this is the first time they've ever looked like real, live, young people. images.app.goo.gl/ZZvJga9nuuL2...

Bought a pie in Greggs and it was uniquely cold. Like, beyond just not got a heat in it. It was the antithesis of heated. Anti-heat. It was actually sucking the heat out of the air around it, like a tiny ghost cold spot draining the world of heat. Are three bites and binned it. -#disappointingpie

The ‘Narrator About To Ruin Your Audiobook’ Talent Agency

This is a really well written and thought provoking article which spoke to me a great deal with various things that have happened of late.

Another Casting Director Appreciation post. Huge thanks to Martha Lloyd (who I *think* was casting along with Kahleen Crawford Casting - not sure, but pretty certain they were the CDs on the show) for letting me know that I didn't get a gig I self taped for. It makes such a difference. #CDG

Word of the Day is ‘bayard’ (16th century): one who has the supreme self-confidence of ignorance.

This very well articulates my fear. What is happening in the States is terrifying. A right wing, white supremacist foreigner is charging into every element of their government to try to undo centuries of progress towards equality and integration and this is just the beginning.

Hear Hear.

Huge thanks to @maddyhintoncasting.bsky.social and @rosalieclayton.bsky.social for taking the time to let people know the outcome of self tapes. Said it before and will say it again - it seems like a minor thing but it makes such a huge difference and is still less common than you would hope.

Once again, I am seeking employment as a human helpmeet or governess to some button-eyed felt puppet children; a mewling holy fool with button eyes & woolen wig. So much the better if it's cat shaped or a baffling, impossible sack in a hat. They must need me for papercraft & educational balladeering

So, to recap: the suggestion is: the UK creative industries grant open access to all their historic and future work and IP, without payment, to the brains behind a nascent industry that just tanked $1tn in a couple of hours. Sure. Seems great.

Yes, woollen jumpers are great in winter but what sick sadist came up with a version that gets fuzzy so quickly it's practically a five o'clock shadow? Only had it four weeks and have already shaved off enough fabric for a pair of gloves.

New video: Five mistakes that were left in (and made the thing better) With specific tribute to David Lynch… youtu.be/sqPwGyw_zMs?...

Superficial Burns #3: My love is like a red, red rose I bought you at the garage It's cheap, it's limp, no longer grows And won't result in marriage #burnsnight

Spent the afternoon building a boltless table thing for the garage. It’s an interesting approach to boltless. I used 27 bolts I reckon. And yet, all the crucial elements which make it square & stable were those insert-tab-a-into-slot-b and batter with a mallet in a forlorn attempt to make it fit.

Tam O'Shanter (Abridged) A native of Ayr named O'Shanter Too fond of the drink and the banter Was chased by some witches Without any britches Now he sticks to the Coke and the Fanta #burnsnight

After six days of furious hard work I have finally finished removing the vinyl and making sure none of the floor is sticky. So that tomorrow a man can come and put down fresh glue, to make it sticky again, but on his own terms.

Sad to see news that Tony Slattery has died. He was absolutely essential viewing on Whose Line Is It Anyway and the best host of Party Quirks ever. Genuinely a bit of an inspiration to me. Condolences to all who will miss him.

Mid way through removing old vinyl flooring & glue in order to get new vinyl flooring installed. Turn out old tiles were quite pretty, but too damaged to keep. Also - this is horrifically hard work & every bit of my body is in agony. Also also - Boots Nail Polish remover is great for stubborn bits.

I played a very small part in this and I’m so proud to have been involved. The lovely and much missed Olly Emanuel is one of the writers and Danny Krass worked wonders with the audio. Give it a listen.
