Here’s a random thought: How many just willfully ‘trust’ A.I. models without questioning how it was trained, yet DEMAND every educator to justify EVERY SINGLE decision we make in pedagogy, assessment, or general practice? #EducationSky #HigherEdSky

Sobering but a reflection of many convos I've had in the last year: "I used to joke with colleagues that higher education is besieged on two fronts: by fascists on one side and neoliberals on the other. As we look ahead to a second Trump administration, these two threads appear ready to converge."

The federal program that spurred a groundswell of Chicano activism may very well reemerge …

Indeed!!! Most people that frame inequities in cultural terms just want to preserve a form of privilege, and oppress someone else. Most of the time, they cannot specify what they mean by "culture" but they can identify who is in the wrong side of it through stereotypes.

Jonathan Rosa and I had the amazing opportunity to work with an undergraduate student and a high school student to "translate" our "Undoing Appropriateness" article for high school students. The final product is available for free here: demystifyinglanguage.fordham.edu/articles/lan...

We strongly suggest that academic publishers and other platforms that host research rapidly implement a Share to Bluesky button for their articles. Here's how: docs.bsky.app/docs/advance... #AcademicSky #HigherEd #Altmetrics

We are looking for our next colleague to join our growing department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for a TT Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration with demonstrated engagement of critical, mixed methods, and/or quantitative methodologies to begin in the Fall of 2025. #HESA

With all due respect, we should not be paying The Chronicle to prepare department chairs.

As an Associate Dean for Research, I don't think people are prepared for how dramatically the funding landscape is going to change with the new administration. Some things I've been thinking about:

So, what are we calling these things? They’re not tweets….maybe “flutters?”

If you engage in queer and/or trans educational research, consider submitting your scholarship to #JQTSIE, a fee-free open-access academic journal! www.jqtsie.com Journal Editors: @kamdenstrunk.bsky.social @drantonioduran.bsky.social @sashelton.bsky.social

Noted!

Higher ed faculty: Here is a reminder that academic freedom arguments aren't going to win over legislators. Our system of autonomy and tenure (often in exchange for below private sector salaries) makes no sense to them. www.insidehighered.com/news/governa...

I’m slowly making the transition to this platform….hopefully less chaotic and more focused on the community I found on the old bird app.
