This week it’s Noël Browne who advocated against corporal punishment and apartheid while supporting contraceptives, abortion and the LGBT community from the 1950s onwards. Well before these were in any way mainstream issues.

“BRING HIM HOME” 🔥

I travel almost weekly for work in my current role and I have to agree with Tom on every single one of these points. I’d add that your clothes should be security check ready. No belt and low profile sneakers are best. Have your laptop easily accessible etc…

While ridiculous in its own way this does at least demonstrate the depth of feeling - and this is in SINGAPORE! Since most Chinese assume all foreigners are “American” I can only guess how uncomfortable it is in China right now for visitors of all nationalities. vm.tiktok.com/ZTjeCLw3L/

Maybe we should look to Argentina for a hint of what awaits the US. After all MAGA love him! geopoliticaleconomy.com/2025/02/28/j...

I’ve said this elsewhere - corruption will trump (no pun intended) worries about democracy. Governments fall because of corruption before they fall for undermining democracy. This kind of market manipulation is a crime - the people need to hold them all accountable.

More good hot takes here youtu.be/WJaDNW4mgjE?...

This is a great summary of the Trump debacle youtu.be/JB-ImtGmNg0?...

Look it up - Jamie Dimon has been predicting a recession for the past three years. He’s the proverbial stopped clock.

He blinked

The Chinese central bank has also instructed the Chinese banking sector to dump dollars. We may see a run on the dollar similar to an Argentina or a Zimbabwe. This is destruction of wealth of the highest order. Wait until you’re restricted to withdrawing 100 bucks a week America!!!

This little snippet actually has a lot of info. First take is the last point in the article. Apple have stockpiled inventories - I’d say most smart larger retailers and manufacturers have done the same, anticipating that things will be reversed in a month or so, maybe they have hedged even further

This guy really wants to bring back the 1890s. He has to be stopped - he is not the King of the world www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

The thing to remember is that today’s rebound will be tomorrow’s crash because it is based solely on a hope not that the Tariffs will “work” but that they will be reversed. When they do kick in properly sometime next month the real storm will hit.

Vance is an ignorant bigot to make statements like that. There’s plenty to be upset about China, but to insult them as “peasants” is simply disgusting. I’ve lived in China and visit regularly. The infrastructure alone puts the US in the shade. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

Leaders lead, politicians follow. What’s needed worldwide are leaders who hold views that they actually believe in, not politicians who try to divine the will of fractured and confused electorates in order to get elected.

And Trump went to play golf

Seems like a lot

Basically at this stage all I can say is that we have an American Billionaire class that are happy to burn down the global economy so they can rule over the ashes.

Seeing this just makes you realise how dumb this all is. What has Cambodia ever done to the US? They can’t afford US goods. How do they fix their “trade imbalance”?

They really should stop committing crimes then shouldn’t they?

I don’t know - they’ve tried appeasement and allowing politicians to break the law all over the world because of a fear this would “boost the far right”. Look where that has got us. Let’s try holding them accountable this time. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

Hard to express the joy this headline gives me. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

America is sending three people. “Trump’s gutting of American foreign aid infrastructure and funding mean the three-person USAID assessment team is not expected to arrive in Myanmar until Wednesday, almost a week after the disaster” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

‘Nuff said

This is a shame. Particularly as today is Trans day of visibility

This is absolutely brilliant. Not one person who could help him get nominated has expressed support for this piece of shit. NOT ONE. Ok now that we’ve established he hasn’t a snowballs chance in hell can we stop reporting on it?

The Tiananmen Square protests were not pro-democracy. They were actually anti-corruption. The Chinese CP have know for decades that a population will accept restrictions on civil liberties but they hate corruption. The more obvious the corruption the greater the backlash. THIS will be the downfall

“Improper ideology” - decided by Vance?

For those not aware of the number plate system in Ireland. 25I-D indicates it was bought this year in Dublin. SHAME!!!

“Conspiracy to cause a public nuisance” It’s a real thing in the UK - maximum sentence is 10 years 😳 Crazy www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Very proud that we continue to stand up for the sovereignty of small nations.
