Is this a sign that I should be using DuckDB more?

RIP MK1B. You always punched way beyond your weight. @nanoporetech.com about that mk1D…

I appreciate that it’s a hard problem, but autocorrect doesn’t make spending your life in multiple languages any easier

We're happy to announce that the #antiSMASH v8 paper is out in @narjournal.bsky.social: academic.oup.com/nar/advance-... Many thanks to @kblin.bsky.social, @marnixmedema.bsky.social and many international collaborators!

Oh look, it’s one of my pet peeves. Base64-encoding a random number is not the same as encryption. But that aside, it’s great to see bakta become even more accessible via a web interface.

I'm a bit miffed that I only got the email about this half an hour ago, but at long last, our antiSMASH 8 paper is out.

And we’re back up and running normally.

Dear Synbio community. We are looking for books, YouTube channels, websites etc that is targeted for layman audiences to provide explanations for what we do. If you know of any such resources could you please provide it in this thread? Maybe we can all use links to such resources for our students🧪

Oh dear. I can see in my monitoring that #antiSMASH connections are a bit flaky again in a pattern similar to the last time we were DDoSed. Our IT is looking at it, sorry for the inconvenience.

I am happy to report that for the first time, Oxford University Press didn't remove the Oxford commas from my manuscript at the proofing stage.

And here I thought the goal was to be cheaper than hiring a person

The Quadram Institute has a pretty cool setup over there. This sounds like a fun job.
