Silicon Valley be all like "You didn't want to buy our monkey jpgs and conduct meetings with VR headsets, I guess we have no choice but to start WW3"

You might be wondering where to look right now. I’m going to say this despite specialising in the MENA region & foreign policy: Focus squarely on DC power grabs & how DOGE in particular is (1) gutting American power & safety & (2) eroding the checks & balances fundamental to American democracy.

Did you know that Peter Thiel and David Sacks wrote this book years ago? Did you know that they all lived in Apartheid-era South Africa, just like the guy they put out in front to do the dirty work? books.google.com/books/about/...

IMPORTANT: This memo circulating right now rings true to the Silicon Valley thought leaders I've followed for many years. I've heard many thought-provoking ideas and also fringe, grandiose and authoritarian ones. They're now consolidating power to install a CEO Monarch and implement the latter,

“I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved, you are worth it, and I will always fight with you.” — Shakira during her #GRAMMYs  acceptance speech.

“Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up. Music is love, thank you.” — Lady Gaga while accepting Best Pop Duo Performance at the #GRAMMYs

“DEI is not a threat. It’s a gift.” — Alicia Keys accepting the Global Impact Award at the #GRAMMYs .

“Record labels need to treat their artists as valuable employees with a livable wage and health insurance and protection. Labels, we got you — but do you got us?” — Chappell Roan demanding labels to do better during her #GRAMMYs acceptance speech.

“DEI is not a threat. It’s a gift.” — Alicia Keys Damn right.

We need sand. Lots and lots of sand

To any of my friends struggling today… youtube.com/shorts/bD8Dk...

It makes me happy to see that Devi Ever is here and making pedals again. Always thought they were super cool

Dropped into the Buchla & Friends show in Silverlake yesterday and saw this nice-looking Bode Frequency Shifter clone. Someone thought I looked like I knew something and asked me what a frequency shifter does. Grateful for the easy question after a long week at NAMM!

Feeling this even more this week

Here we go... first public jam session playing through our new toy. #NAMM

Been locked in and head down working on a new plug-in since summer. We’re doing a sneak peak tomorrow at NAMM. It’s been a huge push so it feels great to finally come up for air and to see it all coming together! #NAMM

Left VT for LA super early yesterday to avoid the storms. Ended up debugging code all day to prep for #NAMM. Last time I did this much pre-tradeshow coding was at the Paris AES to show off Speed.

Great work from @johanm.bsky.social, creating a resource connecting people to aid in LA. www.fireaid.info

Accidentally aged these beautiful local wagyu steaks since before Christmas. Going to give it a go tonight for steak au poivre and duck fat fries.

Would love to turn this into a plug-in but it’s just so hard to figure out who it ought to be dedicated to at this moment in time. So many options! #FU2

For folks impacted by the tragedy of the LA fires: Mutual Aid LA Network has a big spreadsheet of resources, including shelter, distro, free items, and animal boarding. UMAW is here for our friends and comrades in LA ❤️ docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

It’s been cold and snowy in Vermont so it’s been nice to have this cozy spot to work at the @soundtoys.bsky.social carriage house studio

Last night I had a dream that one of my crew at @soundtoys.bsky.social had for some reason buried one of our EMT 140 plate reverbs in a hole in the ground over the holiday break. #audionightmares

Our annual sacrifice to the Lake Champlain sea monster. Happy New Year!

"I've got this machine called the Ninja, and it affords me to stop the music and play backward or forwards at the same time as it's running. As it goes forward, I can go, "brrrrrrrrrrrr brrubyuhhh," . It's a space-age piece of equipment." I'm curious about this Ninja machine! Anyone have any clues?

I was too busy cooking to notice that Prime Rib was trending here yesterday, so here's mine today.

After various travel travails the kids finally made it home for the holiday. All the trees in town are long sold out so we headed up to the hinterlands to cut our own

It seems that Phoebe likes Blackwings even more than I do.

It's been forever since Bronski Beat was front and center in my consciousness. It's heartening to see Jimmy Somerville stand up to fascists using the trans community as whipping boys and girls, or supposed liberals throwing them under the bus. Smalltown Boy is a powerful song. And still relevant.
