i'm seeing some people comparing mania to hysteria. to be clear: hysteria is not real. mania IS very, very real. these are NOT in the same category of things. hysteria was entirely a misogynistic concept hurled at women. mania is a medical diagnosis that men and women experience in equal numbers

Ableism & saneism can be weaponized against anyone who’s undesirable for any reason. Not being disabled is no protection bc not only can anyone become disabled at any time, authorities can declare anyone disabled at any time. And bc the public is so down with ableism, they usually get away with it

i reposted some of these yesterday but the whole thread is good! also a small bit of advice on writing short comics: i find that focusing on writing one moment/scene, or a thought, or a single character as they are, is a good way to start. you don't have to do character arcs and subplots etc

my secret feelings on all this are that gay couples can also be exceedingly boring and derivative. i won't name my most popular examples for fear of reprisal but. just because it's gay doesn't mean it's good. and more importantly: just because it's gay doesn't mean it's revolutionary
