In 1942, English musician/missionary Margaret Dryburgh was captured by the Japanese army and sent to a POW camp. There, she wrote a hymn that helped sustain them. This is the story of how that hymn can also sustain us during difficult times. earthandaltarmag.com/posts/margar...

Favorite book quote today. "He knows no more about respect than an aardvark knows about St. Paul's Letter to the Ephesians." (Octogenarian Veronica McCreedy in How the Penguins Saved Veronica by Hazel Prior)

Comfort listen for today is the Out of Africa soundtrack. Beautiful, soothing

Just ordered some stamps before the only ones available feature you know who

A reflection on childhood memories, some of them difficult, with the help of Robin Wall Kimmerer's Braiding Sweetgrass. open.substack.com/pub/kelliedb...

I'm excited to have this micro about flirting with the violin published today.

“To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen. To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies. To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.”

Hellscape is the only word I have.

Just bought several Jacqueline Du Pre vinyl albums. She had such a unique approach to phrasing. Sublime.

As an act of self-care, I just muted for 7 days several names and the name of an upcoming event. I am looking forward to posts about books, pets, and art, without the soul deadening other stuff.
