Settling into a new normal. Second Saturday social action group this morning with the button machine, then handing out RESIST pins to strangers while waiting in lines at the annual Seed Swap. Came home with big ideas, a bag of seeds and a fig scion to root. Also: can we rename the musk melon?

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

Yes, the Finch app reminds me to drink water and stretch and do laundry, and I found tools in there like a focus timer and guided chair yoga. But the art is bad, the vibe baby-cutesy, and I’m not motivated by shopping. Would it be too much to ask for a nice crow? Collecting haunted artifacts maybe?

Stealing the Oval Office spotlight while your 4 year old tells the President to shut up is nasty work 🤣🤣🤣

Musk's censorship algorithm on Twitter reduced our audience by about 95% since he bought it. So we moved over to blue sky. Help us build another great following right here where the skies are clear and the water is fine ;-) Please do Follow Retweet & repeat

In the current era of instantaneous but trackable communication, maybe it’s time for printing presses in the basement.

It ain’t over ‘til it’s over. Hope springs eternal. Hibernate and rally. All of that.

📞 What Happens When You Call Your Rep? (And Why It Matters) 👇🧵 You’ve heard calling your legislator is important—but does it actually work? Who answers? What do they do with your message? Let’s break it down ⬇️

February 1 is the annual Hourly Comic day. The challenge is to draw one square of a comic strip about every hour you’re awake that day. It’s fun even if you can’t draw. Maybe especially if you can’t, because there’s no pressure! Do it. Search it. I will post some past examples in the comments.

I’m reviving and recovering an abandoned hoop house frame in the overgrown wild-viney back of my yard. Went out in the cold with pruners and tools. If a bra full of dead leaves, twigs and detritus count as “touching dirt”, then I’m golden. Off to soak my bones in a hot bath.

The beauty of a library is finding books I might read, but wouldn’t buy. It’s like dating if you never plan to marry: lack of commitment opens options that might be fun, interesting or diverting for the moment. Disappointments are set aside without regret. It’s a whole new category of options.
