Reposting this again bc like — I want to be able to respond in some productive way to every awful thing I see, but we are literally not built for that. So I picked an org in my lane and I’m offering up my skills. Spent an hour today working through the first piece of a new plan. And it felt good.

The attacks on DEI are a pretext for a much more radical agenda of reversing the gains of the civil rights movement, an objective the Trump administration is pursuing with zeal. A Great Resegregation. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Gave my students extra credit for participating in Frederick Douglass Day 2025 at our uni library, transcribing documents from African American history. They reported back that so many people were participating nation wide that the website kept crashing. #skystorians #academicsky #fuckoffnazis

The entire business model of American R1 universities is not viable without restoration of federal funding, & every individual institution pretending it can solve this problem alone is also not viable. University presidents need to be speaking out, collectively & loudly about this, in DC, right now.

A lesson in how claims of meritocracy as justification for opposing DEI are often cover for the demand that we return to a system of preference for white men - whatever their qualifications. Fire a qualified Black man. Hire a statutorily unqualified white man. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

"Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America." Happy Heavenly Birthday John Lewis, and thank you for everything.

There aren't that many things that I feel qualified to talk about, but during this crisis the one thing that I can speak out on, with some confidence, are the many dangers that the Trump administration poses to the preservation of historic sites and history education. 🗃️ kevinmlevin.substack.com

Every time I read stuff like this I’m so super impressed by how well these folks managed to keep a lid on their racism/misogyny/ableism/homophobia for the past few? years of socially compelled inclusivity when people from diverse backgrounds were still grappling with discrimination. #Brave
