My brother and cousin were both survivors of the fire that night. It was a dark time for our region, and I spent a great deal of time with survivors and the families of the dead during that time. That time humbled me, but I was blessed not to be destroyed by it. Love for those still struggling.

February 11, 1907, the steamer Larchmont sinks off the coast of Rhode Island after a collision with the Harry Knowles. Bothe vessels sank. The coal schooner's crew survived, but of the 156 people aboard the Larchmont, only 19 were saved, and 2 of those died of their injuries soon after.

Yesterday, I saw a brief video as I was scrolling socials. It was a pickle fountain, but whatever was going on was all in German. Then, people filled glasses from the fountain and I thought, "What are they drinking?" After some research last night, Michelle and I had delicious Dill Pickle Martinis.
